The picture itself is nothing off the charts spectacular but the D500 is doing everything I ask it to. A little NR at 6400 and it cleaned up pretty nice.
Rented the D500 and the Nikon 300mm f/4E lens and took the combo out to the Great Dismal Swamp State Park. This white-tail deer jumped out of the brush within 10 feet away and scared the mess out of me. I now own the D500 as of last Friday!
As of right now the grip is still free plus the other bag of goodies they throw in. Buy retail, get the grip sell the grip for $300 and get a battery(or memory card, etc). So really that $1450 for retail and the warranty.
edit/ actually Amazon is also throwing in a lowepro 300( I have, awesome $75) to. So that puts the D500 under $1400.
1399 + 270 for grip on FM buy/sell forum, $1670. Or USA body w/ grip, plus warranty and no hassle repair $1797. Likely worth that $125 for peace of mind.
For someone that JUST wants the best DX camera available, $1399 is a great price.
I have no use for a grip or the extra crap they throw in, if I didn't already have one
of the first D500's released...I'd leap. Just sayin'
Well I'm just saying if you want to be bothered with selling crap. Get the US version right now off of Amazon, sell the grip(if you want the cheapest possible D500) for $300($1500 now), sell the Lowe pro $50, ($1450), and it also comes with a memory card($50 worth, maybe not worth selling). So for $1400 you get a US version with warranty.
