My first outing with the D500 and my new to me 300 2.8. Still getting used to this bad guy of a lens. Focus point wasn't perfectly positioned here. This shot was with the bare lens wide open at f2.8.
Colder weather is finally bringing more birds migrating south. I am finding the D500 likes higher shutter speeds than I am used to on FF with moving objects.
Following the resident male's death (rat poison) earlier this week, other hawks are taking advantage of the power vacuum around the Philadelphia Museum of Art. We observed three juvenile redtails hunting squirrels behind the museum this morning. "Mom" has been seen tussling with a couple of adult hawks, but it's too early to say if she's chasing them off or thinking of asking one to stick around. The hawk pictured here is an immature female.
