It's funny because I play the 15/4.5 lottery again but this time for a M-mount version. I bought it used so it was a big gamble although it was a great price. To my surprise today I tested and it's a choppy. Sharp wide-open towards the corners. Peaks at f/5.6.
I'm glad because I was missing a 15mm prime to go along with my Loxia 21/2.8.
I sold my E-mount (choppy) to Guy a while back thinking I could get another one very easily but quickly realized it was not going to be the case.
Fred, with the Techart adapter you are set now!
You have the best features of VM- and E-mounts.

And I've been feeling slightly guilty about that too as you tried many to no avail after I got your E choppy. I feel better now. Lol
But you got my dang ZM 85 which is perfect BTW and now I want one. Even Stevens . Lol

Man, now I feel guilty!! Your 85/4 is indeed amazing. I remember trying two 85 ZMs before and they weren't this good...
Your copy beats pretty much any other lens I shot with for landscapes.
Although the 85/4 works great with techart outdoors, this adapter really likes faster lenses in low light.

Just received my 15mm E Mount Voigtlander yesterday.
Ive been comparing it against the 16-35mm Sony FE in some very basic comparisons.
Hey Jacknut,
Where did you order your 15 from? I just placed my order from Camera Quest today and I am wondering if yours came from the same batch I just ordered from.

I actually got it from a seller on here just a couple weeks back. The guy made one post and now his account is locked. I was honestly a bit surprised he sent the lens. Seems to be very sharp, the 16-35 is a tad better in the corners, but the 15mm is really sharp, and might be a hair better in the center.
I just compared it to the Rokinon 14mm F/2.8 and the 15mm Voigt is a better lens, even though the 14mm F/2.8 isnt bad.
So in comparing the 16-35mm
14mm F2.8
15mm Voigtlander
I might just keep the Voigtlander.
Im a new to cameras, so Im buying, comparing, and then will be selling some of the lenses.
I could get you the serial number when I get home in a private message.

Actually that would be nice to know. It Will be interesting to see how this second batch of 15's do for people. I won't have mine until Monday.
When I called Camera Quest before I ordered mine, who is the USA distributor of voightlander, I was told they made some changes at the factory to address the issue. Now what that could be and if it is accurate I am not sure!

Stephen Gandy at CameraQuest is a stand up guy. If he told you there were changes, you can bet he knows something.

I second that. I was the first to return a suboptimal Voigtlander 10mm E mount and Mr. Gandy was very gracious about the return. I would definitely buy from him again.

That's good to know! Hopefully then we will see some better QC in this second batch. I am certainly hoping for a good copy. I picked up a 16-35 a few weeks ago and used it for a week or two and just didnt love it. I liked the colors it produced but found the right side a little soft and I was only using it between 16-19mm. While it is not HUGE I figured I would probably be happier with a smaller UWA. I was really hoping to hear some more rumors about a possible loxia 15 but figured I will be waiting forever and it I want to have something wider than my Loxia 21 then I should just bite the bullet and get something now.

I hope you get a good 15/4.5III. Honestly this lens on my pocket and the Loxia 21/2.8 mounted on camera is all I need to landscapes.

Interesting point. I have a 16-35 which I actually use more than any other lens (and usually at 16mm). I'm going to Italy and Switzerland in the fall and need to decide whether I really want to take it and carry it all day. To me it actually is pretty heavy. My Batis 18 is my widest prime, and I may take it instead of the 16-35. I love my Loxia 21 but if I had to choose for this trip would probably take the 16-35 or Batis 18 over it.
What do y'all think? I briefly had a 10mm Voigtlander E mount and loved the coverage. A lot. But its edges were very soft and I returned it. I bought it for the trip, but the shop I purchased it from had no more in stock to replace mine with.

I hear exactly what you are saying. That is why I returned the 16-35, I felt it was just a bit to large if I was only using it on the long end. I will let you know early this coming week how my new 15 is. I know Camera Quest had a few more in stock and I think B&H will be getting some more in this next week. These all seem to be from a new round of production as I'm told.
I am hoping, as Fred said, between this new 15 and my loxia 21 that is all I will need for landscape and cityscape shots.

Why not try another 10/5.6? The odds of getting a good one seem better.

Actually, looks like the FE mount is backordred but the M mount is available. If you're having trouble, give Stephen Gandy a call or email him. He's quite responsive.
