As much as I like the size of the lens, I do struggle sometimes in churches or other closed, dark spaces with this lens, as tripods are not usually not allowed in these settings... I mean, everytime I shoot it in these dark places wide open with long shutter speeds and higher ISO I wonder if my copy isn`t the best one, while on the other hand I have zero issues with it`s performance outside with enough light and closed down... Wouldn`t it be nice, if CV came out with a faster IV. version of this lens?

Voigtländer is active in producing lenses for Sony FE again, so I really hope that they will update their ultra-wide angles.
I could see them doing a 15mm f/2.8, at 350-400 grams. It will be heavier than something like the Sony 16mm f/1.8 G, as it's fully made of metal and doesn't rely on built-in corrections. f/4.5 is plenty fast for outdoor scenary, but f/2.8 would be appreciated for some indoor architecture. I don't need f/1.8, and I prefer the handling and rendering of Voigtländer's lenses.
I might just get the Voigtländer 15mm for now, as it can be had quite cheap, and it's still a good lens. They could definitely also make a better compact 21mm, and they really need a compact short tele on Sony FE, like their 90 f/2 APO for Leica M.

If you don't mind, I would appreciate some full resolution samples. Like you, I'm using the a7R IV / V sensor, and there aren't that many samples. Previously, I had the 21 Loxia and 35 APO, which I considered adding again (or the 21 Skopar), but I might wait for now, as Voigtländer might release the upcoming 28 APO on Sony FE as well. Hope they release their 90 f/2 APO on Sony as well. Had a superzoom phase, but I miss my manual focus kit.
Still have the 50 APO, which I adore. The 28 could pair well with the 15 and 50. At the widest end, I have the Laowa 9, but I would love to see Voigtländer do a 9mm or even 8mm, with better build, rendering and slightly less colour shading.

Did you have anything particular in mind regarding the full resolution samples?

Cheers, A.

Not really. All of the images you posted in this thread are great. It would be great to have a closer look, to see all the details, hehe. A mix of architecture and landscape would be nice. I do a bit of both as well.

A week ago Frederik "motivated" me to go out and do a comparison between the CV 15mm and CV 21mm... To my surprise, the problems regarding sunstar rendering with CV 21mm (I had issues in the past where I struggled to get nicly defined sunstars) were nowhere to be found and I was impressed with the images I got from the lens ... on the other hand I got the confirmation, that my CV 15mm is a poor performer as far as corners are concerned

Well you can`t have it all

I'm on the fence about buying one in mbp as well. Cannot quite justify to my wife the price of going for A Sony 14mm 1.8 or a super wide angle zoom. My goal is to replace my Tamron 17-28 for real estate photography. How do the borders fare at f/8 ?

I have both and have found they compare similarly in IQ. My current CV15 has great corners compared to my first copy which had smearing. But my Tamron is also good I think, just not quite as wide. What is your motivation for changing?

Bathrooms

I'm hitting 50 this year and while I'm reasonably fit, the real estate photography yoga is sometimes a bit much at 17mm Also, there's been instances where I'd had to document the outside of a building from a narrow street and I basically had to rent a Sony 12-24. I might still go for a super wide angle zoom: the Sony 12-24 f4, the Sigma 14-24 f2.8 or the newly released Samyang 14-24 2.8...
The Tamron is good for sure and I've used it extensively since it came out but I could really do with wider for real estate...

I'd probably go even wider then. The options you mention seem better for RE photography. I love the CV15, but it's mostly for the small size, mechanical feel, and sunstars. Those things matter less when you need a tool for a job.

I recently acquired a copy of this lens. I would claim that my copy is good. It's not quite as sharp as the 12-24 GM, 12-24 G, 14-24 DN, 16-35 G, 14 GM and 17 DN, which I also have owned, but I think it's good enough from f/5.6. The main issue, at least with my copy, is chromatic aberrations. In several scenes, there's a lot of purple outlining, and it often leaves tracing or "grey pixels" after correction.

Though not many yet, I have shared some CV 15 samples on my Flickr, and got a dedicated album for it, which you can check out. Personally, I got this lens, as I enjoy using fully manual lenses, especially from Voigtländer and Zeiss, where both haptics and rendering are quite unique, I think. The focus ring is perfectly smooth, the images are punchy, and the sunstars are incredible as usual.

When I'm with people (which usually are indifferent or impatient, understandably), or if I'm unsure if manual prime kit will do the job (primarily in a new location, though it's just a passion), I bring the 12-24 G, 20-70 G and / or 50-300 Di.

As for my prime kit, I stick to ultra-wide and standard focal lengths (9mm, 15mm, 35mm and 50mm (might add a 21/25mm)). Adding more lenses kind of defeats half of the purpose, and adapting several telephoto lenses don't really make sense to me. Most of my images are somewhere in the 9-50mm range anyway.
Occasionally, I focus on very specific details on buildings, but I have reduced that approach, as it usually overwhelms me and requires even more lenses. Sometimes, it's about a bigger portion of the architecture piece, where ultra-wides come in handy.

I consider replacing the 20-70 G and 50-300 Di with either the 28-200 Di og 28-300 Di for less swapping (yes, ironic, when used to bring a bag of primes).
I'm a bit hesitant, as the 28-300 gets quite mixed reviews, and the 28-200 is not quite long enough. Good copies seem to compare to the 50-300 Di. Although I occasionally need even longer, 300mm lenses are a lot lighter and a worthy compromise to me.

Excuse me for the tangents.

Thanks Graham, that's probably the wise thing to do. Waiting for the Samyang 14-24 reviews actually...

This was the first Voigt lens I purchased for my new Nikon Z system. Haven't used it yet but so far I'm absolutely loving the test images, even with the heavy vignetting.

The Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 III is a relatively old design, yet it still delivers very solid performance for an ultra-wide. It makes me wonder if Cosina will ever revisit it to push even better off-axis performance at wider apertures. The 12mm and 15mm are my favorite ultra wide primes.

Howdy folks.

I would like help in determining if my new Voigtlander Z 15/4.5 is a keeper or if I need to send it back under evaluation period with B&H.

I have no experience doing this and have poor vision to really pixel peek.

I live in PA and have no good vista's on the same plane for the pictures I have taken with this wide of a lens.

What I have taken (some on the diagonal like Fred shows) at infinity at f/5.6 and f/8, is there a way I can send my RAW files to someone here with knowledge to look them over? Or how to best post what I have?

Thank you all in advance.
