This one was taken at Mono Lake in a cloudless dusk. The lake's waters were a little rough so I exposed it to 4 seconds + the Smooth Reflections app (128 shots). Total exposure was about 8 minutes
Fred, that is as sweet and rich a rendition of Mono Lake as I have EVER seen . The mood, lighting, color and detail is simply superb. I can't wait to get OUT and have the opportunity to shoot more sweet places with my new 24-70GM as well. You are paving the road for all of us to follow

Thanks for your kind words! I was there with my daughter and we had a blast together.
Mono lake was completely empty, I'm guessing for the lack of clouds. I've learned that the best dusk light on cloudless days can be seen when we aim our camera to the East. (Opposite than the sun)
I can't wait to see your pictures from there!
Best,
Fred
Fred, i've never used that app (and just spent $500 on Formatt Hitech ND filters that are back-ordered) --- how often to you get results that are that spectacular? is the file saved as RAW or jpg ?

It saves as both Jpeg + Raw (No option for Raw only)
I use this app a lot with lenses that don't take filters or in combination with my 3-stop ND.
My Lee 6-stop and 10-stop filters add dark corners and color cast to long exposures and this app does not change colors at all, so that's a plus.
There is a whole thread about it here: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1403764
Thanks for the details - and another awesome photo.
I like the HDR effect as well from that app.
It's also nice to hear you're sharing your love of photography & the outdoors with your daughter. One of my favorite memories was Christmas week on the Amalfi coast 3 yrs ago and my daughter waking me up at 5 AM "because the light will be coming up soon and we want to be at our spot". Who could resist!
I just bought the marketing and will report back on the Firecrest ND filters which are - here's the hilarious part - "a rare earth metal coating used to create hyper neutral NDs" - oh man, i can't believe i fell for that.....we'll see (but i usually run in the other direction when i come across marketing like that) I bought the 3, 6 and 13 stop filters.

The firecrest still have a color cast with there ND filters. They are good though and you can correct it. You have to be real careful with this. Coming from Medium Format many discussions on this topic alone. I'm using Breakthrough Photography solid round glass filters and they are top notch , no color cast. I actually now need to get 82mm CPL and ND but need another bank visit with my ski mask or find someone else's couch. Lol

Another day, another Mono Lake image.
The dusk colors only came towards the end. It was work the wait.
Taken with the FE 24-70/2.8 GM
The Exif is showing f/14, 10 seconds but that was only done for DOF towards the foreground rocks. I also used the longer exposure to smooth out the waters.
The main exposure for the mountains and the sky was f/9 and 4 seconds.

Wow. Breathtaking sky.
Sony owes Fred and Guy a commission on every lens sold in April and Fred should get a commission for the Smooth Reflections app. What a brilliant idea.

How are you 'lads' getting on with the af on these new lenses?
Theres a big hoohaa over on dpreview partly over their test of the new 50 1.8 where they found it doing af stopped down so by f8 it was pretty useless, and I remember a discussion here about stopped down af a while ago.

I don't even think Sony realized what they have with the Smooth Reflections app...starting by how they named it!
It really replaces ND filters and that is a BIG deal.
