Has anyone tested this adapter with a A7 II and Canon 200mm 2.8 II?

Cory -- This isn't the place to advertise. You really need to pay the small annual membership here and post your off on the B&S board. You'll get the best exposure and help defray the cost of maintaining the forum.

That said, you have a nice piece and a great price, so GLWS.

Thanks for the input. I didn't realize there were options for a low cost/30 day classified membership. I had never looked into it. I'll go that route. I'll delete the post above. Thanks!

16-35/2.8 v1 works seemingly fine (on A7) though no extensive testing has been done yet. AF slow but accurate.

In my experience, the MC-11 is less dependent on the lens than on the camera:

it has worked much better with the a6300 with its many PDAF points than with the a6000 and A7s. With the latter, it worked quite well with the Big Sigma 150-600 C, but much better with the a6300. It didn't work at all well with the Canon USM 70-300 and the a6000/ A7s, but works very well with the a6300, even though the green compatibiliey light does not come on.

Has anyone tried the MC-11 with the Sigma 50mm Art using a a7ii?

Ya, I've used that combo on both my A7II and A7RII and it works perfectly for my wedding workflow.

I haven't read through the entire thread, but has anyone tried the MC-11 with the new Tamron 150-600mm G2 lens yet?

Here are my results using the Sigma MC-11 Canon EF to Sony E mount converter/adapter (firmware v1.03) on each of my Canon mount lenses on an a6500. Upgrading to v1.03 made a huge difference in converter performance. Build quality and fit of the converter is excellent. The a6500 IBIS works with all of my non image stabilized lenses. Image stabilized lenses use lens IS, converter turns in camera IS off automatically and then turns camera IS back on when lens removed, except as noted below for the Tamron 150-600mm. I am very happy with the performance of the MC-11.

Sigma 12-24 f4.5-5.6 version I
Fast focus, occasional hunting, accurate focus

Canon 17-40mm f4L
Fast focus, no hunting, accurate focus

Canon 24-105mm f4L IS
Fast Focus, no hunting, accurate focus, lens IS works

Canon 35mm f2
Does not focus
UPDATE: after cleaning of all lens, converter, and camera electrical contacts 35/2 works perfectly with converter

Canon 50mm f1.4
Good focus speed, some modest hunting, accurate focus

Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 OS Macro C (newest version of this focal length)
Does not focus

Canon 24mm f2.8
Fast focus, no hunting, accurate focus

Canon 40mm f2.8 STM
Fast focus, no hunting, accurate focus - best performing of all my lenses

Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro (not the L version)
Fast focus, no hunting, accurate focus

Canon 70-200mm f4L IS
Fast focus, no hunting, accurate focus, lens IS works

Canon 80-200mm f2.8L (MDP)
Decent focus speed, some hunting, not always perfectly focused

Canon 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS II
Fast Focus, no hunting, accurate focus, lens IS works

Tamron 150-600mm f5-6.3 version I
Fast focus, occasional hunting, decent focus, also lens VC does not
operate unless you manually turn OSS off in camera settings

Best regards,

Jim

17-40/4 also works well on the A7.

When I said "fast focus" I meant that the lens snapped to focus quickly with little hunting back and forth, "decent focus" meant that the lens would occasionally not achieve correct focus once focus confirmation was announced with the beep. All in all, my Tamron 150-600 performance was acceptable with the MC-11. For critical shots I take several exposures, just in case.

Jim

I've recently purchased the MC-11 with a Canon 16-35 f/2.8L III. I put up a blog post about it and video showing the focusing.

Phase detection autofocus works well. Contrast detection takes several seconds.

I would describe the performance of the Canon EF400/5.6L on the MC-11 as excellent and even quite good with the addition of the first generation Canon EF1.4x Extender! The earlier post is correct that it is limited to AF-C and AF-S modes - no Lock-on AF.

I have two questions,

How long does it require to focus from the close up limit to infinty with and withoutvthe Canon 1.4x extender?

Does AF-C work in a useful manner?

I use this combo and would agree that performance is excellent. I've not measured from min focus distance (which is pretty long at 3.5m) to infinity but it usually doesn't hunt much...however if you miss the target, say a BIF in a gray sky, it will start to rack in and out and slow down. I use mine with and without a Canon 1.4 III and it's very usable in AF-C which is the mode I'm in all the time when birding.

Thanks! I'm looking for something more lightweight than my Sigma 150-600 contemprary zoom, that I use with the Canon mount MC-11.

Edit: searched for reviews and there's a focus limiter that can be set to 8.5meter - infinty, so AF should be no problem. The lens seem to get only excellent reviews.
