Sigma Fisheye 15mm with MC-11 on a A7RIV body. Both latest firmware.
No joy so far.
Turning on the camera, I go from "incompatible lens" to completely crazy behavior.
It looks like this Sigma 15 FE was debuted in 2012. As with many older AF lenses, such as earlier Canon EOS from 90s to early 2000s, you are unlikely to get accurate AF (if any!) and the lenses are not updatable for upgrade firmware/software. Many early EF lenses from the late 80s refuse to AF with MC-11 on Sony bodies.
With troublesome lenses, I imagine you would get exif only, basically providing a MF lens using MC-11, possibly giving some focal length information for internal Sony IS.
Most of the Sigma Art and Contemporary series should work pretty well with MC-11 on Sony bodies.

All my EF lenses are old, like the vintages you mention, so I've decided to give the Metabones Mark V adapter a try instead of the MC-11 despite the cost difference. I ordered an open box one from Adorama for $270 to lessen the sting. Still waiting for it.

Curious to find out how you find it works.
I've got the old EF 50 macro and 135 SF, that are going for sale soon -- even if they worked well, I've got little to no use for them.
You are right, this is an old lens but it's very common (with mc-11 or metabones adapter) ith Sony bodies for underwater photography. So I really di not understand what's going on.
I will try with Metabones ASAP and I will report here.

I finally got it after it was lost in a shipping vortex for a while. I tried most of my EF lenses with it (the ones I could get to easily) and they all seemed to work as expected with my A7IV even though some of them aren't on the Metabones lists. I didn't do a ton of testing, just a few shots per lens, but the focal length information showed up in the camera just fine, even the zooms. AF worked adequately on all lenses (for stills) from what I could tell in a few shots and pointing it around indoors.
I tested:
Canon 50mm f1.8 (really old)
Canon 50mm f1.4 (refurb I just got)
Canon 85mm f1.8 (refurb I just got)
Canon 24-105mm f4 IS (pretty old)
Sigma 100-300mm f4 (old)
Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 (old first gen)
Canon 17-40mm f4 (old)
Hi everyone, has anyone updated their MC-11 to the latest firmware and noticed reduced focus accuracy with Canon lenses? I've had mine for four years and used it with the EF 70-200mm f4 IS (v1). Using it on my a7 III.
Recently updated to the latest firmware v1.42. I think I'm noticing slightly inconsistent focusing at 70, 135, 200mm (especially) with the above mentioned zoom. I'll fire three shots back to back with AF-S PDAF center point at infinity distances and good sunlight. Every photo is in the ballpark but at 100% there will be front or back focusing occasionally. Anyone else experienced something like this? Most replies on this thread will say "works good" or "not good" without being specific.
Previously my MC-11 was on v1.12 and I think it was more consistent. I mostly shoot landscapes with this setup and I'm not concerned with tracking speed, though it worked well on occasions.
I may contact Sigma in the US for a firmware downgrade. Anyone tried this?
