Has anyone tried the MC-11 with the Canon 100-400mm on the Ar72?
If no-one else has tried it I can check it tomorrow am. It's on my 15mm EF Distagon now and an MB IV is on my 100-400 but I can switch them to test. It'll be landscape stuff but I can move it around to check.
I didn't get out yesterday so I checked both adapters looking out into my back yard. Focused at various distances from ~15 feet to infinity at 5.6 and 100mm, 200mm and 400mm, hand held.
I'd say that the Sigma is certainly no worse than the MB IV, in fact it seemed a little more snappy at 100 and 200. Both hunted a bit (but not always) at 400 and were probably closer together.
The Sigma has the recent F/W update and the MB IV is up to date as well. I'm going to keep the Sigma on the 100-400mm from now on unless MB offer a F/W update to improve the current performance.
Benefits and improvements:
Easier user interface to select between Green and Advanced mode using Metabones App, with separate settings for newer cameras and older cameras (except Mark I/II/III and original Speed Booster).
Fix operation of Kenko Pro300 DGX (green dot) stacked on EF Extender III.
Option to park focus to infinity upon shutdown to shorten its length for storage (except Mark I/II/III and original Speed Booster). Some lenses may disregard this setting but never park focus, and most of these are internal focus lenses which do not require parking. STM lenses always observe the option setting.
Shortened shutdown time for IS lenses.
Option to close down the aperture or leave it where it is when camera shuts down (except Mark I/II/III and original Speed Booster).
Option to let camera body decide whether OIS, IBIS or a combination thereof shall be selected (except Mark I/II/III and original Speed Booster).
AF accuracy improvement for subjects near infinity.
Fixed autocrop of Sigma 50-100/1.8 DC HSM Art 016.
Stability improvement.
Fixed issue with Tamron VC USD where autofocus may occasionally become inoperative.

Thanks for your post Paul. I'd been thinking about the Canon 85 f1.8 and ordered it with the MC-11. Just tried it out last night and this morning - really loving it.
Yep, MC-11 works great with the 85 1.8 USM lens. Love the results on my A7ii.
MC-11 also works very good with the 40mm STM, 50mm STM, 35mm f2 is, and 24-105 f4 lenses.
as advertized, the new firmware makes the Tamron 45 & 85 actually work - before they were awful
neither the new or old firmware allows the Sigma 24-105 F4 OS ART to actually use EYE-AF accurately - using just phase detect and the Metabones IV T still seems more optimal for Sigma Lenses
All the lenses are relatively quick to AF on the A7ii, but not to the level they are on my 6D.
The 85 1.8 is almost instantaneous on the Canon, while the Sony lags behind a bit. But, it is definitely usable for most types of shooting (not fast moving action though).
Your assumption on Eye-AF is correct - it is not available with any of the lenses. Face detection does work however.
C-AF does work as well - pretty decently too IMO.

Ha, I was looking for info on these lenses and there you were with the last post! Thanks
Could you comment on how they perform compared to, say, the 6D? I'm guessing EYE AF isn't in the cards, but how about C-AF? Thanks
Just got the sony a7ii and the mc-11. Was using it with the 30 f1.4 sigma dc hcm. Befor the firmware update it worked perfect after its psycotic. Cant find focus or exposure just runs lock to lock both in focus and apature. Any ideas. Works fine with my 70-200f4L IS.
after updates on the mc11 and sigma 150-600 C works really better, also i briefly tried a canon 100-400 II which just arrived and it worked VERY WELL too, im not on the latest A7Rii firmware (its 3.1 i think, the previous one of the latest) , im not sure to update yet since there is no rollback available , i suspect since the mc11 update was delayed and launched after the last sony v3.20 maybe the mc11 update was based on the last firmware, any experiences with this FW matter?
Brought the MC-11 and Sigma 150-600 C, updated both firmware to 1.03. Works surprisingly well with both a6000 and a7rii. Feels a bit more smooth with the a6000. The AFC is a bit too busy with a7rii. With canon 24-70f2.8ii though, the a7rii/MC-11 combo is quick and smooth, almost like a canon body.
Well, I found the hidden connector cord in the box!
Now I'm stymied. On the Sigma website, I don't find an executable "Download" button for the MC-11 EF. What am I missing. Does the camera need to be turned on? Everything seems to be on a circular treadmill with no way to download. I see nothing that jumps out at me in the product packed instructions for firmware update.
I have the converter mounted on a7R with Canon 16-35IS, using the supplied plug. (BTW -- the converter is not lighting up either green or orange, is that correct with Canon lenses?)
Here is the web page where you download Sigma Optimization Pro, Link. Install this software on your computer first.
Remove the lens and the camera body from the MC-11 before you update it. Then open Optimization Pro, then connect the MC-11 to your computer. You should now see your MC-11 be recognized by the computer, and there's a button to initiate the update process.
I hope this helps, going a little by memory, since it's been a couple of weeks, since I did this.

Thanks! I already had Optimization Pro on my computer for use on my Sigma 24-105 Nikon mount. I wish the directions on the website were more clear for dummies like me! Got it done in about 2 minutes, once I knew which program to use, instead of a direct web download to gear.
Further test in the field with the 150-600mm C and MC-11 showed that both a7rii and a6000 are robust from 150-400mm, but hunt quite severely from 500-600mm in AFC mode. Maybe it is the limitation of the on-sensor phase detection. Canon 80d is robust all the way to 600mm, but the focus precision is better with the Sony body when it works. The image quality of the 150-600 C is amazing, matching my canon 400F5.6. Didn't expect that before hand.
Anyone has experience with using Sigma 300 800mm EX DG, Canon mount on A7RII? I just got the lens but Metabones III would lock up the camera if I press the shutter button. No AF either.
Picked up an MC-11 today. I am glad to report that it works great with Sigma 300 800mm F5.6 on A7RII. First generation Canon 400mm EF F2.8 L also auto-focuses on MC-11. I have a Metabones III, which would lock up the Sigmonster and the 400mm only manual focuses on A7RII.
Another added benefit is my 135mm L performs slightly better than on Metabones. For anyone looking for ZE lens compatibility, it works with 21mm F2.8, 50mm F1.4, and 100mm F2.
