Just purchased both Sky-HDR & SR.
After testing the Sky-HDR, I was reminded of a problem I always seemed to run into with GND filters.
There are many scenes where the transition from sky to earth is not a nice "line",
but rather more like a shallow "V" It seems to me that Sony could add a feature to set line segments rather than just vertical placement & width. If they just gave me an adjustable middle point, it would probably work in 80-90% of scenes.
Here's hoping they will rev these apps and pay attention to users.
I'm not holding my breath.

That's roughly correct. I also notice that even with the shutter speed firing there is a delay between shots. In fact, when there are quick shutter times, the A6300 will complete the shots much faster than the A7rII at the same shutter speed. The delay between shots seems to be much less. I haven't tested this very rigorously but its been an observation.
That's interesting. Is the A6300 faster between shots even when using the exact shutter speeds for both cameras?
Everything about my a6300 seems faster and more responsive than my a7rii - startup time, cycle time required to get ready for another shot, focusing time, continuous fps etc.
Is it just me or is there an enormous amount of CA on each of the last two long stacks posted? Is the app causing that? They're definitely scenes ripe for being plagued with CA but it seems excessive.

The CA comes from the lens but the app shows some artifacts when saving in JPG mode. I would advise always using the RAW file.
After using this app for a while, I've learn to underexpose my images a little bit when using it. (Definitely do not use the ETTR Zebra technique with it!).
Even though the resulting image is a RAW file, there is absolutely no wiggle room in the highlights, whereas the shadows will be extremely clean (from the image averaging done by the app) and easily recoverable without any significant increase in noise.

yep, only thing it does (thank god) is the remote control by phone and phone transfer. Gotta re buy filters again lol
I don't think Sony knows how powerful the SR app really is, especially for landscape photography.
On this thread, we posted examples of its benefit replacing ND filters but to me its biggest strength is in dramatically reducing random noise (by averaging), effectively improving the image's SNR. I will post a new thread about this soon.
I do wish they would update this app and include 'silent shutter' and 'uncompressed RAW' as options. Silent shutter alone would definitely save our shutters. Perhaps if enough of us request it, they may do it.
The SR app is what made me buy an A7 as a backup for my A99II after I sold the A7R2. Perfect for hiking and walk round without carrying a box of filters

Fred, YES! And I don't think most Sony users know how powerful the app is. I tried to convince a highly respected and technically skilled online gear reviewer to take a look at the app and without looking they refused. Said they didn't want to install an app on their camera and Sony's installation process was a security threat. So I sent them my 256x blend RAW file of the lifegaurd shack I posted earlier, so they can see the SNR improvement. No response.
It's marketed wrong, and it needs to be an integral feature in the regular menus.
