I tried a bit of bif today. Unfortunately I have to say that I am much more comfortable with 300/4PF with 1.4 teleconverter. I find AF is faster and more accurate (may be it was just the weight and I was able to track the birds better with the lighter lens).
I also think that after I did auto AF fine tune, the focus is actually now a bit front focus, judging from many pictures that I took that the focus point was not quite right. Will have to try to fine tune the lens again.

The reason SO many people post "bird" pics is one can really appreciate the
measure of a lens/body combination. Feather detail/colors/AF as they're
typically at distance, and in the case of BIF...MOVING. Sssssss.
