Out of curiosity, from which store did you buy it?
I haven't bought it...yet. :P
I'm debating between this and a macro lens at the moment. I want to try this new 300mm on both of my camera bodies, but my local camera shops are out of stock at the moment. I'll have to wait till they get stock till I can test the lens at my camera store. Oh well.

Congrats! Let us know how it works on your camera please. Which camera will it be used on? The camera used in the photo you shared was the D4s. I wonder how much image VR blur variation is attributed to different DSLR camera bodies the lens is used with.
I've been looking into this lens, but it's out of stock at the moment. Would like to try it out at one of my local camera stops, but no Bueno so far. >_<

Ihr 9 mins to Zwolle (no change) to be exact. The train system in the Netherlands (as you know Chris) is excellent and I have family there too.
I hate public transport, the last time I took a train is more than 10 years ago and there was a big delay as well.
Don't forget you have to walk as well.
Ask your relatives about the Dutch railways, especially when the weather is bad. It's not as good as you think it is.

Well coming from Switzerland which has the best transport system bar none, that's true, even if they all get their knickers in a knot when the train runs 1 min late..........seriously
I ordered this collar to 300mm f4 VR. Thereīs very great price quality ratio. Only ~10$, when Nikon official RT-1 cost ~150$. Itīs very robust, entirely of iron. Weight is maybe 150 grams. The inner surface of the collar is some soft material. I can recommend!

I did purchase Mine from HDEW and that was one that wasn't working right. I still really want this lens but getting hold of one is tricky in the UK, then you have to make sure it's not a faulty one. I spoke to nikon at the UK Photo Show and they said they are aware of the Issue and trying to find out whats causing it, which could explain the slow arrival of stock.

Did they say why some lenses have this issue and some don't?

Hi Mic, they didn't give a reason for it. They said that they always have one Engineer from Japan in the UK and he's working with Japan to Find a solution. They only had one on at the show, they said it was due to such low stock levels but it could be more that it's hard to find some that don't have the issue. I'd say it was strange but the big company's only seem to have one or 2 copies of any lens at the show.

I got this one on Amazon (shipped from China). It has a build-in Arca-Swiss type base.

I don't know about trusting a cheap collar with such an expensive lens. FOTGA can't even make decent lcd protectors. Hope it works out for you.
Same for me. I bought the RRS one and as everything from them it looks pretty good.

Not yet. Mine's been at Nikon USA for 3 weeks. Nikon USA tells me they ae waiting on Nikon Japan, and the official status of mine is "Parts Hold".

I'm hopeful we get a complete fix.
No solution yet, Nikon Europe is waiting on Nikon Japan as well. I'm told a solution is expected in a few weeks.
In the meantime I'll work around the issue.
