Many of you will recall that several years ago we lived on property where we had over 500 Rufous Hummingbirds that would come to our feeders and nest in the adjacent coniferous forest. This was one of the highest concentrations of Rufous Hummers in Western Canada and was an ideal choice for hummingbird experts to come and band hummers. The banding proved that the same hummers would migrate from Mexico to our property each year.
During maximum numbers, we would have ten feeders out and they would get emptied in half a day.
Since they love bathing, I built a fountain with water flowing over rocks that made it easy for them to bathe.
Hope you find a few different shots here and a few that will give you a chuckle.
Pardon the 25 images, but thought I would get it over with in one thread.
I bookmarked your earlier post from a couple of years ago that showed your fountain setup. I recently set up something similar in my yard, but I only have 3 or 4 hummers that occasionally drop by my setup.
Wow, what I'd give to be around when 500 of the little ones start hovering and bathing.
A most enjoyable set Sr T. I guess I lost track that you moved from this place you once had with all these visitors. Those Tamron 90 and 180 shots are impressive Not to mention the performance of your 100-400 Canon!
Sweet memories and a few good chuckles and grins, truly a great set.

What a wonderful, wonderful set. I always love your hummingbird posts. What a joy it must have been to have so many come to your property.
