p.18 #1 · At Canon, We See Impossible

And if any who has ever purchased an engagement ring, you have to thank the "idiots" at Marketing/Advertising. Grant you, I am not comparing the same industry but you should get my point. There is a reason why these guys add value in addition to what engineers do.

If engineers were in solely in charge with no input from any other functions, no one could figure out how to turn on the camera (unless they are engineer themselves). Or even know when a new camera is released. Or the more likely possibility that Canon will be on 5D MK-IVII by now

In case anyone thinking I am defending my industry, just to be clear I am not in marketing. Quite the opposite in fact.

I understand. I am not fanatical about grammatical rectitude per say (sic). I'd probably understand you even if you were to write your posts in Esperanto or Lithuanian. However, I worry about our young 'uns being exposed to overly casual English, here and elsewhere.

Whatever was supposed to be at that site may be over already, but I gather it is not a 1Ds-X.

It's really, really funny that you had to deal with such an important issue.

Had to quote this. Brilliant analysis. I would assume that canon will be calling soon, they need you to run their company...

Canon critics always complain that a cheaper model is "crippled" in relation to a more expensive model, as if the cheaper model should always have EVERY feature of the more expensive model. The 5D2 was cheaper than the 1DsIII — a lot cheaper. The 5D3 was more expensive than the 5D2 and hence had some better features. Now the 6D appears and it is cheaper than the 5D3, and it has a cheaper AF system. So the 6D is "crippled" in relation to the 5D3? By this analysis, every camera in the line is "crippled" except for the one at the top, which is like $7,000. It's as if these features grow on trees and cost no money at all to build, but can just be inserted into a product with the waive of hand and a puff of air. It is always asserted that "crippling" is to avoid competition with some more expensive product. Well, guess what, photographers have tiered/variable pricing too and don't offer every feature of their most expensive product or service at the same price as their cheapest product or service.

AutoISO costs about 10 cents and they dribbled that out over more than a decade and still only 1DX and 7D2 have it working, other brands have had it at rebel level for years.

The way they had the code for MFA already in 40D but then cut it last second and they did the trick where they put in 50D and then pulled it from 60D so they could make it a 'new' feature again for the 70D, that kinda stuff is marketing games.

Canon 6D intro price: $2100
Nikon D750 intro price: $2300

And if you look at the specs, you know that one of these two cameras is crippled.

A one-point AF system (effectively) on a $2K camera .
Come on!

Congratulations Canon, not only can you see the impossible, but you made it possible for me to see how many you can possibly suck into believing that your PR announcment was going to announce something of probable value.

Not sure of the value of a PR stunt that ends up annoying the customer base. I am so glad I have shifted the bulk of my kit away from Canon.

Duh! 6D introduced Sep. 17, 2012
D750 introduced Sep. 12, 2014

Maybe you should try comparing the D750 to a Canon model that will come out in 2016.

Exaggeration doesn't prove a point. It's not a one-point AF system and it's not $2K. I use all of the AF points when needed. They all work, exaggeration notwithstanding. And the center point rocks in low light.

The 6D has been under $2K for a long time. Current price at B&H is $1700. Lowest price today is $1,350 at Big Value and $1,450-$1,550 at some other places. The D610 was a replacement for the defective D600 ($2,100) which was introduced at about the same time as the 6D. The D610 is around $1,800. The D750 is around $2,300. For $hundreds more, these cameras had better offer something more, right?

If you look at the specs, you know that the 6D has turned out to be a bargain. You also know that Nikon has no full-frame at the sweet price of the 6D, not to mention their letting down some D600 buyers ... speaking of "crippled" cameras.

At a body only price of $2099/£1955, the 24MP D600 is significantly cheaper than its big brother the D800, and on a par with Canon's recently announced 21MP full-frame EOS 6D.

I think they meant: "Look at the D600 compared to the D750 at the same price! What is Nikon thinking?? Why is the D600 so crippled??"

As we all know, despite your touting, the Sony a7 cameras are limited application devices, very limited. Flash, action, AF with Canon lenses, accessories a pro might depend on for general shooting of a commercial nature -- not applicable.

I wish you'd spend as much time being realistic in discussing its functionality (or lack thereof) compared to your rah-rah-ing all the time.

You just make this stuff up? Auto ISO works GREAT on the 5D3 and 6D. And not having it certainly doesn't "cripple" any camera.
