Prepare to be disappointed. For the rest of the world that likes AF and cameras that serve many different goals, could be a great announcement if it's a new FF body.
No disappointment for me - I was disappointed by the 5D MkIII sensor specs in 2012, this was it for me. If Canon announces a new FF camera, I am just curious about its new sensor specs, rest is of no importance to me (since I don't need another body now especially not a DSLR body).
(Canon will release a 46mp pro body at the Javits Center in October).
As long as I can still "dream"...and with no small chuckle...it'd be pretty wild to see Canon release a 46mp "pro body" that had a Foveon type sensor in it...with DR numbers 'off the charts'...
Seems to me that Canon needs a sensor and Sigma needs a camera (that will sell to more than a handful of "enthusiasts"...)
My hope would be for a new FF body with a sensor that can "see" colors even in the dark. Something like this, but in a FF body would be seeing the impossible!

Finally and EOS body that will mate with Nikon lenses. Now the best lenses in the world will be available to Canon shooters.....at long last!
Afraid not. I can name many canon lenses that nikon has no equivalent. Like 70-200 IS 2.8 II, 85 1.2, 100L, 135L. IS primes like the 35/2 IS.
It's OK. It is good for Canon shooters to be satisfied with what they have. There is something to be said about being humble and not wanting anything better than what you already have....although I'm not exactly sure what that "something" is.
