I think the entire sports market has switched to using 200-400/1.4tc lenses that Nikon doesn't have. Those things are magical for field sports.
And Canon's bank account.
Impossible is a pretty big hurdle!
56MP that thru pixel selection becomes a 14 MP high speed camera that four pics in quick succession as it reads a quarter of the chip, mirror return and refocus and repeat. 40 fps in 10 groups of four per second.
This will be about low light performance. That's what the slogan means to me. However canon can release the 5d3 again this time with d810 senator and it will sell like hot cake
Definitely interesting to see how cynical some of us Canonites have gotten in recent years by some of the responses in this thread :P
I'm definitely intrigued to see what they roll out given how they've chosen to set the stage so dramatically. That said, I'm pretty happy with my current complement of gear..
A 5d mark IV with the same exact sensor but not one, but TWO direct-print buttons! Sites like Dpreview will lavish praise upon how Canon has kept the tradition of an oldie but a goodie alive with full-page preview and first impressions spreads that are basically ads, while stolidly ignoring some camera lines by other makers.
Don't know what I expect this time, except a white 100d . But with all these lasst announcements that went from bad to ugly, I expect the next time Canon try to do a viral advertising nobody will care.
I think this thread shows what a long way Canon has to go to get back "happy and satisfied" users, instead of users tied to Canon because of lens investments.

For someone who recently registered you sure have caught on quick with the pessimism haha.
"THIS MESSAGE GOES OUT TO FEAR, DOUBT, LOGIC AND REASON....."
A response at long last to the superior performance of Sony sensors? I hope so. This ad has a definite reactionary/responsive tone to it, so I would expect it to relate to something that people have been loudly critical of Canon. They haven't criticized Canon for poor high-ISO performance, but they have criticized them for falling behind in low-ISO sensor performance and resolution.
If this relates to a new DSLR sporting a high-resolution Sony Exmor sensor, that would greatly appease a lot of people and would do the seemingly impossible (Sony sensor in a Canon body). That's what I'm wishful-thinking/hoping for anyway.
Would it be too cynical to suggest that something actually revolutionary, or even a real step forward (Exmor-class or better sensor, MF, whatever) would sell itself without a breathless teaser in a general audience venue? With cameras becoming decidedly unhip maybe they're getting into cellphones ...
