Is there any reason Canon can't announce any new anything at any time, they seem to be able to decide what to design, what features to include, introduce, etc.
Disappointed with Canon, so much so that I switched to Nikon. Their "See the impossible" promotion was my tipping point - expected a new DSLR announcement. I am not saying I won't ever be back but as of right now I am really enjoying the D810.
Lower cost + higher resolution + wider dynamic range market has been taken by Nikon/Sony already. We need to wait until new canon sensor technology trickle down to 5D/6D series, don't expect anything in IQ comparable with D800(E)/D810/A7R and D600/D610/D750/A7 until next coming years.
I don't mean to be, well, mean, but with PhotoPlus now over and no announcement by Canon of a high MP camera, it appears the Psychic1 didn't know what he was taking about.

I submit a variation to that assessment: I believe Psych knew that he knew nothing. His "prediction", the way I see it, was just a little joke, merely fooling around for forum levity & entertainment sake.

I would say that most of the people in this thread probably knew that going into it but still had that 1% hope that it might turn out to be true.
