I predict that no matter what camera Canon announces, when or where, it will instantly create a torrent of disagreement over what it does well and what it does not do well at all.
I further predict that cries of 'shame' and 'crippling' and 'heartless bastards' will ring down from the mountainside by the affronted.
Among the hue and cry, there will be a tsunami of sheer derision heaped upon those who deem it to be swell, fine, or all-that-and-a-bag-of-chips.
The afflicted and the serene will walk among us, oblivious to the other's position, leading to inevitable hand wringing, finger pointing, and gnashing of teeth. So it has been, so it is, and so it shall be evermore.

But I do believe that there is no way, no way, your going out on a limb with these predictions and they fall apart. Is there more to come?

I go out on a limb with a saw and I cut the limb from the inside I will post any new information I gleen from the sky, including the color of the focus points.

My impressive far sight powers tell me that the focus points will be black but light up red!
I like the OP's style. He's had te guts to pick a date certain after which it'll be clear to all whether he knows something or he's a troll. I think he's gone out on a limb. We'll see. I'm entertained in any event.

Can you do a test of concert photography or sports photography dynamic range comparing the two?
Why would I do that? I never claimed that the A7r was better at concert or sports photography. The person I asked, however, claimed an IQ advantage in favor of the 1DX.
You can hope for more low ISO DR in a new Canon 1DsX, but the reality is, it will be only a FF version of current APS-C sensor tech with the same DR limit.

If it is announced next month, then I would expect a new generation of lens as well for 2015. Better start saving up.
We've noted for some time that nearly all of Canon's recent releases significantly outresolve the 22MP sensor in the 5D III, even regularly outscoring equivalent Nikons on the D6x0.

That is an unqualified statement. Better DR means better IQ in some cases, but not all.
So you don't stand by your claim that the 1DX has better IQ than the A7r? Or isn't there a way to show it?
You said in some case, then how can I show people my claim by using over shooting side by side with my A7r and 1DX over six months of actually using, or just simply believe those one time one condition one aspect Web test?

If you never need that DR, that is fine. I provided one example and you call it a one time one condition one aspect Web test. If it was that easy for me to find and example of a condition you claim is so rare, why don't you come up with your own comparison showing that the 1DX has better IQ than the A7r, since it according to you happens all the time?

I have no problem you disagree my share on my actual experience on my A7r and 1Dx
High ISO DR is what makes the 1DX such a great low-light shooter. DR is primarily determined by the amount of noise in the shadows. Some need that more for low ISO shooting, others need it more for High ISO shooting. Either way, DR is a principal element of IQ for digital imaging sensors.

Snapsy,of cos I understand a bigger DR always give us more chance to take better photo especially in post, however my point is that DR is just one of the aspects to make or affect the IQ. The Web test shown some "user" measurement to us but it still cannot tell all the aspects or measurement from the manufacturer quality, simple example is that why a poor measurement CCD always have better looking picture that the CMOS, or why the best score 36MP sony sensor cannot have better picture than those Lower score Digital Back in DXO? We know data never lie but data is always for reference only

New lenses like a 100-400 L Mk II? Canon people at Photokina did mention that one is on the radar for replacement. That would make a whole ton of sense with a new 1DX2.
And yes, all the newer L glass made in the last few years is very much out-resolving the current sensors. Precisely what you want. Make glass that can survive upgrades over a long period of time. That's what keeps them selling and what makes more pros want to shoot canon
CMOS and CCD are two different baselines. We just can't mix them in this comparison. IQ is a function of (DR, Color Depth, ISO, WB, ADC sampling, etc...) Any improved elements will enhance IQ and DR is the most critical one in this function. As we all know, we just can't grade the coffee by adding more milk and sugar to it. And some still thinks post DR pseudo steps as a work around for IQ. It is simply wrong like some has tried to convince the others here. Bottom line, if you need better IQ you do need better sensor, period.

I thought that DR was a component of IQ? ;-)
Question: "Currently no Canon camera offers more than 22MP. Do your DSLR customers ask for higher resolution?"
Answer: "Yes. We know that many of our customers need more resolution and this is under consideration. In the very near future you can expect us to show something in terms of mirrorless and also a higher resolution sensor."
