I'd like to know this as well. We now have a 17-page thread based on the OP's claim. Is he affiliated with Canon? Does he have any credibility with regard to knowing Canon's product roadmap?
It is an interesting question. Some have posted things suggesting that he "knows stuff," but I guess we'll all know more in a month or two.
And, yes, it is interesting that a very basic and (objectively speaking) vague rumor can go as far as this one has, even well beyond this forum.

Yes, I almost tried all. If anyone of you have a way to show the A7r have the 2 stops DR benefit over 1Dx or A7s in actual picture taking I can do a on site test to compare the three camera again.
Comparing dynamic range in actual picture taking is easy:

Ladies and Gentlemen and Canon Corporation:
I have never been affiliated with Canon Corporation in any way, except as a Gold member of CPS and as a guy that likes to spend money on quality equipment.
No one at Canon has violated their NDA by providing me any information.
I have been called a Psychic and I have been called a Psycho by my wife, but I never accept money and my basic work involves protecting the kids, all the kids.
My associates have provided the 1DsX information and I am passing it along.

More importantly, when will the book be available?
Psychic1, I like your style and pray you are right.... except the 8-9k part... hahaha! I'd be happy with 6-7k like the 1dx now. Drop the 1dx to 4-5. At 4k that thing would still sell.

Allow me to translate: "I work for a three-letter agency, or am in some way such affiliated. Our department oversees child protection. The colleague I carpool with is responsible for corporate intelligence. He don't sign no stinkin NDA; don't need, ahhhh, permission."
I don't think it's out of control or really all that far fetched as other non-related posts on other sites have claimed very adamantly that Sony is set to pop a whole new gen of cameras in January with new sensors, one of which is reportedly 46MP ... So is it really all that improbable Canon has bought rights to Sony's sensor, which could also be contractually made to exclude any use by other folks... saaaaay Nikon? Canon has the money to buy Sony's non compete (except for Sony using the sensor themselves of course) Is it going to happen? I dunno. Is it possible? SURE! Is it probable? 50/50 ... but why not? I'm not dancing on pins and needles but I'm waiting til the New York show to make any future purchaing decisions and possibly until January to see how this Sony business plays out.
Let's assume the Sony tech is correct and they have a 46MP chip ready to hit. $1M buys you the rights to use this chip and $2.5M buys you the rights to lock everyone else out the house on it. (Something like that). Why let anyone else play? Canon owns the 46MP chip. Puts in a 9k body then trickles it down 6 months later into a $3500 5D4.
Sure Sony is selling a 46MP body for $3500-4000 right away, but with what lens? Canon doesn't perceive them as a threat regardless, but Nikon also having that chip is problematic. So you buy exclusivity.
It's all academic, but it's fun to speculate a little
Now, can you tell me how to conduct a test showing any IQ advantage of the 1DX over the A7r, comparing at the same resolution?
Can you do a test of concert photography or sports photography dynamic range comparing the two? I think you will quickly find that the dynamic range of the Sony sensor doesn't mean jack shit when one out of ten photos is in focus. The 1Dx wasn't designed to compete with high resolution sensors, it was meant to be the ultimate PJ and sports camera and it overwhelmingly succeeded. Just look at what reuters brought to the olympics this past winter - a bucket full of 1Dx. I bet the editors cried every time they saw a photo without enough dynamic range.
Bahahahhaha who am I kidding, they were damn pleased with their choice not to bring a toy camera.
That said, a 1DsX would be nice for those who want to use a high resolution, hopefully high DR sensor in professional workloads where camera resilience and dependability is paramount to acquiring a living.

I'm really enjoying this thread and hope it continues until end of october. You have some privileged info or your truly blessed. But I do believe that there is no way, no way, your going out on a limb with these predictions and they fall apart.
Is there more to come?
