Knoxville's Mardi Growl, which raises a lot of money for the largest local pet shelter. Now something like 400+ dogs participate. No fights, no dogs trying to remove their outfits. Pretty amazing.
Ronny, looking at that second pic of Nitro jumping the log, how the heck did you get him in focus travelling that fast towards a wide open manual focus lens?!

Obviously guessing: pre-focus on the log, aperture wide enough to get some DOF, and start firing upon approach and leap?
A beautiful image. Giving the frame a lot of air to the right of him makes the whole thing come together. And the Silver Efex Pro work makes it very special, indeed. Probably wouldn't work as well on a breed of dog that didn't have the cut features of a doberman or one with long hair.
I put some dogs on a rock and got what i thought was a good exposure and got the focus and everything, but somehow they don't look as fierce on a rock as your Nitro. What am doing wrong?? Another lens maybe?
Well I shot those fierce mutts with the 70-200VRII. I should put my data in, sorry. But I don't think even the Otus or 200/2 would help the cause. Nitro would give them heart failure. Together they probably weigh what his tail weighs....
We have a couple of fantastic German Shepherds at our biggest dog park here. They're the permanent pets of a couple who foster shepherds. Some of the dogs they rescue have been badly mistreated to the point they have more fear of people than the little dogs on the rock in my photo do.
