impressive 6 megapixel photo! fitting for the release of those 48-59 megapixel cameras. In the age of megapixel chasing we get an appreciation for this "old" technology

Ten or so years ago, We used to use 6MP cameras to make images for billboard use. There's nothing wrong with 6MP. Sometimes people are too busy to smell the coffee.
I think for the masses they think they need that 50 MP camera because it will make their photos look better, when understanding composition and light would be better off served.
Same thing happens in the cycling community, we all call them weight weenies. I've always said that 5 pounds of your body is "free." 5 grams off your bike is expensive!
Mario Cipollini was wasting guys on his aluminum CAAD3 when the fad was going to carbon bikes.
this also encourages me to use DX mode to shoot some MS sports this week and see how it goes. I was considering a D300 or D7000 for a crop body.
I'm tempted to buy a d3 for fast action where my DF autofocus doesn't really cut it. $1k-$1200 seems fair for an older but excellent camera. A d3s would be nice, but $2k is a lot for me
I've seena few very nice D3s examples sell on the Buy/Sell here for ~$1800 or so, though at that price I'd probably go for a D800 for the DR and other factors unless you need the FPS.
