I remember a few years ago around 2010 Nikon said it could put resources into either further improvement of high ISO performance or further higher count of megapixel for still. And it sent us survey on how shooters wanted them to do. Later I learned the result was more than 90% wanting higher MP. For me I'd rather have a 12MP camera that allows me to shoot up to half million ISO without having to worry too much about noise. Perhaps thats just me. Nikon D700 is a legend and I hope it lives on.
Lacking reach here but with the same lens I get the highest keepers with the D700, like these three shots in succession a few hours ago. It's my official "make me happy" camera.
Nice to see this is still alive. Well, I finally traded my D700 for a D600 (w/da fix) and some
dead presidents. Kept my D3 (same sensor) cuz it was faster/lighter/smaller than my gripped 700.
I still remain a 12mp FX fan, however and I thanks y'all for playin'
