I've shot with the D700 for years and have really enjoyed the full-frame and high iso capability. I stepped up to the D3s last year and became even more impressed. I would definitely consider the D700 to still produce professional and quality work!
Nice conversion Joey. With the D700 you can go many directions when it comes to Nikon MF glass. Simply pick your preferred focal length and chose a lens that length. Primes old and new will work well on your camera so long as they have an AI/AI-s lens mount. I started with the classic 105 f/2.5 AI-s, which is a great lens that can be bought at a reasonable price. Your D700 will thank you for that...
