Some shots from today with the new to me R Cron 50 German made...Does anyone know if this later German made is any different the Canadian version?
Gregg
Gregg, I can’t find any info on differences between Summicron-R 50 versions produced in Midland (ELCAN) or Wetzlar (ELW) but I found interesting reading in earlier mentioned Puts’ ‘Leica Compendium’
Based on info below I would personally consider looking for Leica R and M lenses produced outside 1988 – mid 1990s years. There isn’t any specific information, but during that period Leica as a company were facing quite turbulent times. On other hand, lenses produced prior 1988 in ELW and especially those from ELCAN appear to be of high manufacturing/assembly level.
Again, Leica lenses hold one of the highest standards, but some info below makes me wonder.

Thanks for the info Jack! I might have to pick up the "Conpendium"...
I like the previous portrait more Jack, burnt love the smile on this shot, though!!

A7S with R 50/2 (Canadian). Not sure if I like the picture... In person, it was certainly a surreal juxtaposition of elements but the picture seems flat.

Both portraits are stunning and we should not have to choose! Perhaps we should see them side by side!

Jack, thanks! The Summilux-M 75 that I have is not new (I have had it for almost 20 years). I haven't been using M lenses on my A7r I didn't have a good adapter. I just got a Novoflex adapter last week so I will be using some of Mandler's M lenses more.
