The are a little brighter but if you like a 'rich' look it is easy to do a slight exposure comp or a little adjustment in processing--I prefer the d4s look to the d4,d800 or d3 series after shooting a couple thousand photos

What are your overall impressions of the new body??

Some VERY positive comments from a talented pro & his colleagues here, after sifting through the usual completely unmoderated DPR garbage:
DMT's assessment is along the line of Dave Black and other Nikon shooters. I have bit the bullet and ordered mine. I've never found DxO charts to be important.
Well, well, well…I've been spotted . Been so long since I've posted here that I had to have my password sent to me.
I've had my eye on a few places on the web in the lead-up to and subsequent release of the D4S. I've been very active of my Facebook page with lots of info and images the past several days…but if there are any quick questions here I'd be happy to answer them.
You can believe what pro shooters are saying about the camera…it's all true. And then some.

I shot at an ice rink tuesday for the first long shoot with the 4s--about 1200 photos. I don't think I have seen the level of performance I got in adverse conditions in the 36 years I've been using pro bodies. The camera missed very few shots and what did get missed I can attribute to the shutter speed being on the low side for what was taking place with the subject. AF great performance in all light situations, I missed 2 short sequences that were really my fault that I wasn't set before starting to pan, 1 sequence did recover part way through and the other I got 7 out of focus shots. Colors were striking without processing, noise was perceptibly below what I'm used to seeing out of the D4, color balance is different than the D4 and the shots Tuesday were a different color pallet than the preceding week's shots done with a D4. When the DXO numbers came out I was a bit disappointed that Nikon didn't generate a higher sensor performance than the 89 score of the D4 but after shooting Tuesday there is no comparison, the 4s is a definite improvement if you are shooting in conditions where shutter, iso, AF and noise are challenging your picture quality

Good to read. I take it the D4s colors were better than the D4? I generally desaturate D4 colors a bit--too saturated for my tastes, which might just be a LR5 issue.
I just got mine is as well. I was a bit surprised not to get the NPS ribbon around the box. Was only an NPS Australia thing?
Anyway, despite being a bit skeptical at first that it was worth the upgrade I'm sold now. There are a lot of small improvements that aren't even noted, but are really important to me.
No left side AF issues on this release. Nothing but good work this time.
