I'll verify that after directly speaking to Tamron as a registered lens owner that they confirm that there are AF issues they are addressing. At this point there was no reason to send the lens in because at the moment there is not a fix for it.

AF speed is very decent, AF tracking is inconsistent and will stop and not re-obtain focus while in AI Servo focus mode.
In low light the lens will hunt though that is not uncommon with any lens on targets with little to no contrast.
For me at 600 I have had inconsistent focus sharpness though I am awaiting and update to my FoCal program to run more tests on my 1DMKIII.

Reason enough for me to return mine. No fix for it at the moment suggests they do not even know what the problem is yet. Could be a while before a fix is on the horizon.

I am very puzzled. I have seen numerous examples posted on other boards which were taken with the 7D, and nobody seems to have mentioned problems.
I bought mine a couple of weeks ago in London and have played about a little with it on my 5DIII. The light was bad, but the results seemed pretty good, and all the shots were hand held. Certainly good enough for me. I have not tried anything moving yet with AI-SERVO mode though.

I don't think they are available anywhere right now Tony, think they pulled the sales off the market because of issues.
I would imagine if they did know what the problem was for sure they would have suggested to return for 'the fix'
What is really odd is there has been all good reports from owners of the 70-300 VC that I know of. I wonder what they would have changed that messed up the communications of AF?
I don't know what you are puzzled about. Most examples posted on other boards are not sequential shots in AI Servo that show AF is tracking a moving subject.
If you had been reading all the posts, you would know the specific problem people are reporting and you would know that it depends on the body you are using.
Hi all. New(ish) member here. I sold a 70-200 lens here a while back and have completely forgotten about this place, so I figured that I'd try to start posting some here. I've been watching the new Tamron 150-600 as well as the Sigma 150-500 for the past couple of week and this place has been a wealth of knowledge! With that said, thanks to everyone who has shared their experience with the new Tamron lens and I hope to continue learning.

$1069 didn't quite cover the cost of the electronics.
FWIW I just returned that gimbal. It was extremely stiff, vertically and horizontally. Think I am going to go with a Manfrotto 393.
Thanks pperham! I'll continue to look at my options. I was looking for a reasonable price one rather then spending 300 to 400. The video by the one owner was promising.

Well I'm hoping they can sort this out ASAP, certainly as keen as mustard to try one out, but seeing I like to do a lot of BIF work, if it can't track it's not much use. My 100-400+1.4x tracks pretty well on 1D X and 1D IV.
A week ago I was certain that my copy was a straight up turd. Having had the opportunity to use it in good light a few more times and learning the quirks of this lens I'm of the belief that it's a keeper at least for now.
