Yes, called my place of order, and cancelled as it was supposed to be in on the 17th. They told me it was still on schedule to ship, so yes still shipping with known issues it would seem.
Both my cameras are on the list of no-go with this lens so a wait and see I guess.

Yes, the images I've posted were all with 1Ds Mkll. I've tried it with 7D, but it needs a MFA and with our unusual weather (rain, sea fog etc.) I've not been able to adjust the body/lens.
I can however, confirm it's weather resistance. I shot with the lens for about 30 minutes in moderate rain Wednesday and have several nice shots of a Red shoulder Hawk.

1. I have heard from different sources (incl. tamron corp. people) that Tamron Is the only 3rd party manufacturer that officially purchases a license from Canon to make lenses with Canon's AF technology. If Canon was smart, and I'm sure they are, they would require Tamron to repurchase the license periodically, annually, biannually, whatever. Let's say the last time the license was purchased Canon sold them algorythms, data and so on based on the AF technologies of their latest cameras. Hence the difficulties with older cameras. Just saying.
2. A lot of the cameras in question are not supposed to focus at f6.3 so Tamron has to fool the camera into thinking that the max aperture is f5.6. More tinkering with the code. Has anybody ever been able to use a lens with max aperture of f6.3 and successfully done BIF with a Canon camera designed to AF at f5.6?
Incidently, I sold my 7D and bought a 70D 1 week before I got my Tamron 150-600. I also have a 5DMKIII and it seems to work fine on both.

I was considering selling my 7D in favor of the 70D but I'm not sure it's an upgrade at all. What was the deciding factor, other then in works with the Tamron? To me that's not a reason to sell a good lens for possibly a lessor camera to retrofit the new lens.
The 6D also works but I have an older 5D mkII. Is that an upgrade? I'll have to do further research to find out.

I had no idea that either one would or would not work with the Tamron lens. I wanted to start fooling around with video and thought that the 70D would be an upgrade in that manner. And it is. It's nice to have AF in video mode and I really like the touch screen. I also get full function with my 600ex rt flashes.

If they have an agreement it will span over all cameras. Further up somebody confirmed that the lens does not have the AI servo issue on the 1Dx. The very similar 1DMk4 seems to have that issue. I am theorizing that the Tamron lens has a bug in the communication protocol.
I don't think f/6.3 is an issue on any Canon. Perhaps except 10D,20D,30D and those are quite old indeed..
All 1D's and you 5DIII can even focus at f/8.

The weather has not been conducive for BIF in the week I've owned the lens. Sea fog, rain, mist and heavy rain don't make for the best of conditions for your sequential BIF test. Give it a rest Tony, you've made your point and you've even started a thread for your request/challenge. No point in badgering people.

The 1DX and 1D4 are about as far from similar in the AF department as you can get....there is no surprise it could be working fine on the newest system (likely what they used for testing and likely a bad idea) and not working on the 1D4 or 7D (the system they should have tested on due to market conditions and the lens' price point).
600mm on FF would be fine for me, so I'll likely sell the 7D.
