Thanks, Gregg! Yes, the FE 28 is a great lens. I love it. Not only optically but the size/weight are right on the money. The price? Well, it is OK priced now but I know in a few months, you can buy one for 20-25% less .
I posted quite a few images from that lens already. BTW, the bell tower of the Venetian on this page was shot using that lens.
Ronny, thank you
Helena, wonderful images! Love the feel and lighting.
Gregg, really nice series of shots with the FE 28
Joshua, wonderful set with the ZA 85. Stunning portrait and love the tonality and fall off on the face. No need to replace it with the Batis 85... yet
Personally I don't feel there is only one particular lens for portraits. In my case I still keep the 50 Nocti f/1.0 with A7s, and the 75 Lux with the A7II for portraits. I am looking forward to the Batis 85 as I think it is will perform really well. Surprisingly the FE 55/1.8 is an amazing portrait lens at f/1.8 too
Anyone using the UWA for the 28 FE ? Its "only" $248, and I even have more than that sitting in my account via some Amazon gift cards but I keep on holding off getting it for some reason.
Really enjoy the 28 FE, and for me it makes an ideal little 2 lens kit with the 55 FE, but I think having the 21mm option would be great too.
I know corners won't be perfect, but then again, neither is my Zuiko 21/3.5 or FD 20/2.8 short of f11, and the UWA certainly would be easier to carry, won't need an adapter etc
Guess I should just bit the bullet and place an order...
Lake Colchuck last night. Busy weekend there since permit season, where you have a permit to camp, starts Jun 15 and everyone is enjoying the permit free camping.

Thanks! Knowing my resistance level, chances are I will succumb to the Batis temptation sooner or later . But for sure, I won't get it right away. Not only I would like to see real life images and read user's review first but I really wanted to wait for the price to show a little bit of a decline . Let's say in a few months after introduction or so.
BTW, Charles, do you notice any difference using the WATE with the A7r before and after the modification? Is that better after or is it approximately the same? I am really curious...
There is a noticeable difference with the A7r Mod using the WATE. The shots appear to have better clarity and sharpness, not visible via web images. The WB has changed marginally, but with the WATE this has to be tweaked normally anyway

I just bought mine from Ryan. It'll be here next week and I'll let you know.

I guess given you bought it second hand at least one person didn't like it
I don't shoot a ton of wide angle, at least not enough to warrant something like the 16-35 (as good of lens as it looks), but occasionally am on a trip or something to the beach etc where something wider would be nice, and most likely would be shoot stopped down a bit anyways, so I'm hoping (maybe too optimistically) that by f5.6 or so it will be decent into the corners, for non-critical work at least.
I guess its a little bigger/heavier than some people expected as well, so might not really save too much size/weight over my tiny little Zuiko 21/3.5, but it certainly would be smaller than the FD20/2.8.
Convenience factor seems pretty nice too, just bayonet it on/off as needed, and the camera automatically detects its on there with the clever little magnet sensor, applying the proper levels of correction.
Guess if you've got one coming I'll hold off buying a few days just to get your take on it. Save me the time and trouble of returning/selling it if you try it and think it absolutely sucks
It will be interesting to see how the adapter performs on the FE 28.
I've really enjoyed seeing the shots with the FE 28mm lens and FE 35mm f/1.4 so far. Sony is putting out a nice collection of lenses in my opinion. It's a good time for us a7 shooters and should be getting better.

Not sure if that's the case. I have a pm into Ryan asking if he's used it...I'll report back later. He just said on the FS board he was sticking with his M240, and getting away from Sony? So we'll see...

I have the adapter but have not shot a lot with it yet. I just walked out in the backyard and took these two shots on a tripod. Both at f11, 15 sec and iso 100. One at 28mm and one at 21mm.

When zooming in during PP, how do the corners look on the above shot? Center and mid-zone at web size look pretty good...
