Thanks! The reviews I read before buying said that the f/1.7 is a little better. That it's also smaller and cheaper doesn't hurt. Of course, afterwards I have read reviews claiming that the f/1.4 is better and has smoother bokeh..! Oh well, what's done is done. I'll use it for a while and we'll see. Eventually I may replace it with a 35/1.4 of some kind (maybe not too long into the future... ).
Helena - you won't be disappointed with the 50/1.7 C/Y.It is the sharpest and contrastiest lens of the C/Y lineup between f4 and f8.Planar 50/1.4 has smoother oof blurr and it's a tad faster/has better built.Anyways - horses for courses.

the f/1.7 is sharper from wide open to f/2.8 or so. the f/1.4 is sharper across the frame after that. they're both very sharp though, so the differences are small. the f/1.4 can also focus closer and has somewhat smoother better bokeh.
another zeiss planar (g45) continuing my shots out the car window since i haven't had time to do any real shooting lately.
Some pictures of the A7s and the FLE 35 Lux today . Lake Murten, Switzerland.
The combo is quite useful for me. After I found, the electronic shutter must be off.
A "wildlife" image taken this morning - I was trying out my DSLR wildlife setup and I had to take my 500mm reflex with me and here is a shot using that lens on the A7 II. Again, I have been impressed with the portability and sharpness coming from that lens. However, its AF works only OK and it had a tough time keeping up with fast moving targets, such as fast flying birds. Actually, to a point that I wouldn't even bother. However, it doesn't have any problems with more suitable semi-stationary targets or only slow moving targets, like this snowy egret.... . This would be an awesome lens for the zoo or wildlife animal park if you take your kids or grandkids there and you don't feel like lugging a big and/or heavy long lens around.
