René, i see that you have now the 135 STF, a lens i am looking at since some time, but hell i have the 135/1.8...and then there is still the 35/1.4 waiting...
Do you like the STF what's you experience with it?
Chees to everybody
Dear Werner. I have the STF for 2 years. This includes the 135 1.8 even. Love the STF. However, I use it often with the A99 together. Too much stuff here :-). If you like, I lend it you for a time.
I'm just blown away by the stuff in this thread. I have to come back every day to see what's new.
Yesterday my wife and I went to the 150th Anniversary Celebration of the surrender at Appomattox Va which ended the American Civil war. I took my new A7II, the kit lens and my Contax G45 and G90. I didn't even use the kit lens as it became obvious the G's were the way to go.
I don't own both, but I have used them. Very, very few lenses can touch the 135/1.8 for sharpness and separation. The rendering is very special and the bokeh is wonderful to me. The STF, on the other hand, is all about that bokeh. Terrible light gathering, (T/4.5) and very good sharpness. Doesn't distinguish itself from the Canon or Nikon 135's, and is a bit pedestrian. Until you use the Smooth Tranistion filter well. There just is nothing that touches the bokeh. I like the Fuji 56/1.2 R APD alot, but I love the STF.
The STF excells in floral pictures for that dreamy separation, and for portraits with backgrounds that blur. The STF defines good bokeh for me. So while others like more "active" bokeh, the STF's smoothness creates what many on Dyxum call STF Lust. I have it bad.
