Charles, how do feel about the size of the FE 35/1.4 vs the Loxia line. Seems like the FE 35/1.4 is much larger . . . how does it handle?
Hi Bob,
The size of the FE 35/1.4 does not bother me as it is an amazing lens. Had Sony introduced again a compromise like the FE 35/2.8 (BTW very nice lens and small/light), I don't think people would have been happy. The engineering, build and feel is wonderful and compares as with the Loxia line if not better. The FE 35/1.4 handles extremely well on the A7II to the point where I do not notice it. I actually notice more my 50 Nocti f/1.0 on the A7s. For the superlatives of a look we may want, I think the FE 35/1.4 will fit in well.
Hi Hiep,
For now I have not a chance to look for mid zone dips, but the first photo at mid distance last night at f/1.4 surprised me how well it handled the brick wall and detail. Then OOF regions you barely notice just transitioning smoothly in the background. It was very dark, and contrast and color that FE 35/1.4 was drawing reminded very much of my ZE 100 MP.
Great day! Met for the first time with fellow FM'er Harry Palmer (Kingfishphoto) and we went out together on the desert. Actually we ended up talking photography more than taking pictures, - good time! Did manage to get in a couple of shots with A7rM and Sony FE 24-240.
^^^ Isn't photography supposed to about enjoyment? Thanks for sharing, Dale.
Few images with ZM 35 Distagon. I am working on getting to know this lens (not happy when the weather is hardly ideal two weeks straight after receiving a new photo toy!)
Anyhow, the lens is very proportional to all other ZM 35mm lenses; 2.8/35, 2/35 and 1.4/35 - double the size, weight and $$$ (I should be more grateful after checking the other 35/1.4 new lenses; ZM 35D is at the upper level of RF size/weight but still acceptability on a common scale)
Performance wise it changes with variables (distance, light, aperture, etc.) as it should, which makes it less predictable, more interesting and given – sharp wide open.
Jack great set !!! Love your PP'ing
Dale wonderful images!
It has been raining heavily for the lead into Easter, so no real chance to venture anywhere.
Robbie : Very cool shot as always
Peter : Very nice lamb shot..think that C/Y 180mm looks great ..different opinions regarding its performance..It reminds me about 180 f2.8 Nikkor Ai-s.. which is a great lens
Werner: Great shot
mcbroomf : Nice shot ..fine rusty details
philip :Nice shots
Samuli:That Loxia 50 looks great.. very nice as always
Just quick snapshots I was able to grab with FE 35/1.4 on A7ii this afternoon and last night. Hope to test out this lens in shootout with the Loxia 35 during spring break holiday, weather permitting. May drag the RX1 out as well to participate, perhaps one of these lenses will allow me to sell it.

It has a mid zone dip at infinity. I also mentioned it in my first impressions of the FE 35/1.4. This lensrentals comparison between the FE 35/1.4 and 35/2.8 shows it very well:
