thanks. this is good to know that 6400 is within acceptable level. I'm not used to this camera yet but I am learning. Let's just say, the menus and features is quite more than of an M9.

In that image it doesnt bother me, perhaps because it's dark. But overall I agree that e.g. most Zeiss does far distant bokehs better. And as you say, closer by backgrounds improves a bit. But better still is closer by subjects - that's where I believe this lens excel and can even surpass just about anything bokeh- and color wise.

Does the bokeh smoothen when you stop down a bit (like it does with for example the 50/1.4 planar)?
More with the Zeiss 100/2 MP ZE on the a7R. This lens is about as big/bulky a lens as I would like on this camera. It handles very nicely, IMO, and produces wonderfully sharp Zeissy images.
[Edit] - Opps, that first image is with the Oly OM 21/3.5 . . . how did that slip in there?

No, it's same as with FE35 "cross-eyed" boke = doesn't improve as usual aberration caused issues. Basically it gets better because DOF increases (and size of blur circles in boke decreases) and at some point it's inside the DOF. In this scene it start to clear f/8, unfortunately didn't shoot f/11 but I would assume it would have been pretty ok by then.
To me this is not the same "bad boke wide open"/"busy bokeh" which many lenses have, specially the ones well corrected. I haven't ever seen anything similar in other lenses. I have shoot with almost all Canon EF L-primes from 35mm to 300mm, all Zeiss ZE series lenses excluding 15mm&18mm, most Contax SLR lenses, lots of Leica R etc. and this is definitely one of the weirdest lens issues I have faced this far. Luckily it's not triggered as easily as with FE35.

Thanks! I think it was WO. I don't mind the funky bokeh for the most part, I might like it better from a different lens but I'd have to see it to know.
Here's one showing the rear window. I haven't seen many of these myself (I'm not sure I've ever seen one in person). Another guy on the sidewalk said he knew the owner of this car, and that it was all original, and local to the area even.
