Werner, please, please stop! I am already convinced, yes I have to go there. Now please will you stop killing me?
Nah, I am a masochist, please continue killing me!
Dear Susan thank u for the kind words. I've setup a7Ii just like great Gary Fong suggested in his video. Which was opposite of how I used to setup my cameras. So no center and recompose now. A7II has excellent af. I have an always running somewhere son as u can see so it is the first a7 series camera I can say that af is satisfactory for me. I also have a6000 but image quality is not comparable of course.
So the setup is basically continuous af as a standard method of focusing, face recognition is on, and camera is in the largest area af (the top choice). This is somehow counterintuitive to how I've always shot but this is how a7ii and a6000 need to be setup for these type of shots and it actually works.

Hi absolutic,
Great shot!
The little boy is adorable.
Did you focus and recompose?
I'm curious how you did such a nice job of subject focus.
Charles, excellent, as ever!
Michiel, I need to learn more from you!
Bob: in cahoots with Werner are you, you fiend? Whaere is the "r" gone? And I don't mean the "r" in A7R...
Great stuff, Douglas, the first and second in particular.
Charles...love the 75 Cron shots! I hear it's an extremely sharp lens?!
Bob...the 16-35 looks really good WO@35!! Did you use software to correct for upright? We have the same Liberty dudes here in Scotts valley doing the same thing!

Gregg, thanks. I have an import preset into LR5 that applies lens profiles and auto correction to make upright. It works pretty well but sometimes it gives some weird results. Then, I just turn off the auto correction and work manually.

This technique works pretty well on my 2 year old as well. However, I find the face detection will sometimes fall down if she's wearing a hat or scarf. Otherwise it's pretty solid. I think I'd still prefer to move the focus point around manually, but it's just too cumbersome to do so on Sony cameras.
Picture of my son in the middle and his older nephews. Taking picture of one child is sometimes difficult, taking pictures of 3 children can be much more difficult to concentrate their attention on photographing On this picture I like the unrepeatable expression in the face of my son what he was thinking about
