Love this shot. I was looking at getting this lens locally. Would love to hear your thoughts on it for a general purpose walk-around lens. The 35mm's are currently out of my budget.

Thanks
It works well on the A7 .. maybe not the best edge sharpness at higher aperture
but it is quite ok.. and the great closest focusing distance is nice to have also
28mm works pretty good as allround lens.. but 35mm is probably a bit more allround
Are other alternative on 28mm.. as the Contax 28 f2.8 which seems very good
But Nikon 28 f2.8 AI-S is nice also..it also lacks the Zeiss feeling...and it works probably a bit better on the Nikon D700 than the sony but as I said it's quite ok.. and I think it's a great alternative
But do you get Nikkor 28mm f2.8 so make sure it is Ai-s it's better than Ai
Ai have poorer closest focusing distance too
Thanks for the quick response Ronny. Appreciate it.
Yes, the one that I had my eyes on is the 28 2.8 AI-s version. The close focusing is what drew my attention on this lens. The bokeh at least to my eyes is very nice. Will go try the lens out in person and decide. 35mm was my first choice as well (love that focal length) but like I was saying they seem to cost a lot more too. Thanks again.
Some really nice images going on in the last few pages. To mention just a few:
- Picture This, you're using the optimal car lens, superb demonstration
- Jako, #3 in post #13 last page is beyond usual, very tasteful
- peire, enjoying the less intrusive logo and larger images, very nice. I know I've been complaining about this :- )
- sculpt, love the comp - and shadows (!) in the last shot (post #8)
- Ronny, as usual plenty of love to your unreproduceable makros
First images with the A7II mounted with the Minolta MD 35-70/3.5, the first at f/8 the second f/3.5. Lots of experimenting to do. Anyone know off hand if it's advisable to turn off Steady Shot when on a tripod?
Hey! Been using my a7 with the rokinon 14mm for a mount and the the rokkor x 28mm 2.8, the 50 1.4 pg, and the pg 135 2.8. Thought I'd share my first few shots with yall.

LOVE the work shown on this thread! Love the camera it involves! Huzzah!!!
I've been digging the Minolta glass on the a7- stopped down, they all resolve really well and wide open, dreams occur
have a good time shooting everyone... and merry everything!
