Another week, another excellent round of captures. I like most of them.
nibutto: excellent light painting at night.
Helena: beautiful shots. I like both of them, the fogginess of the first shot (just like one of those scenes I imagine in a Hercules Poirot mystery novel) and the vastness feel of the second.
Sang: nice captures
Gordon: Nice Rialto Beach shots. I like both of them. Very nice dynamics in the both.
Some of mine after a short trip to Oklahoma:
A7s + ZM 15
A couple of shots in church with Contax 55
A couple of shots in downtown Tulsa (ZM 15) High ISO
Went back to the Pumpkin Farm for a field trip with my oldest sons class. This time I brought the CV 35 Ultron 1.7....
I really love this lens, am will have a hard time parting with it , if, and when, the new 35 Ultron comes out!!

This thread is full of inspiration and really fantastic photos.
Philip and Helena, I love the look of your shots. The lighting in each is just fantastic, and while you each have your own style, I think both are wonderful.
Mike Reid, your mountain landscapes are incredible. I'd love to hear a bit more about what goes into each shot, and any PPing you do.
Werner, your work is also amazing. From the soft water long exposures to the vintage cars, everything is just really well done.
Here are a few of mine, along with a question.
Sony a7 w/ Sony 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 @ 51mm & f/5.6
Sony a7 w/ Contax Sonnar T* 135mm f/2.8 @ f/4
And finally, my question.
Any recommendations for a great, relatively inexpensive fast 50mm?
I'm looking at spending up to $400 or so, and am specifically considering a Contax Planar T* 50mm f/1.4 (MM) or saving quite a bit and getting a Konica AR 50mm f/1.4. The catch is that I love the look of the Zeiss in most everything I've seen, but haven't seen enough of the Konica to make up my mind. I really like my 40/1.8, but I don't know if its best traits (size, sharpness, color) will be in the 50, while I know the Zeiss has lovely colors, is just as sharp, has better contrast/microcontrast and has wonderful bokeh.
Thoughts?
cross posted from the rokkor thread. i was really glad that i shot these with the A7, as i was trying to use natural light on a cloudy / rainy day outside. i shot these at iso 1000 and 1600, and the files were still amazing and had a lot of latitude to work with in terms of exposure adjustments and dynamic range. i don't think i could've gotten the same results on my 5D2
Rokkor 58 1.2 and 85 1.7, great combo for portraits!
@ lonleyppl; zuiko 50 1.2 is another one if you could stretch the limit a little. Little sharper then my zeiss 50 1.4, little less then my zeiss 50 f2MP but very appropriate size on a7 like leica lens on leica camera.

The C/Y 50 is an amazing lens. If you're pressed on budget, the C/Y 50/1.7 is nearly as good and has better bokeh. The 1.7 doesn't focus as close and isn't built as well. Everything else is fairly similar between the two.
If you want to save even more money, Check out the Super Takumar 50/1.4 it's awesome.
Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll have to do a bit more research into the Minolta. Unfortunately, the Olympus looks a bit out of my price range.
Right now it looks like I'll go for the Zeiss, as it's not much larger than the Oly, takes 55mm filters and is a bit cheaper/easier to find than the Minolta.
@mike reid Gotcha. Sounds pretty similar to what I'm trying to do, though my results aren't quite there yet. I feel like the colors on mine tend to come out over-saturated, where yours are much more realistic.

So, how do you like this lens hodad_66. Quiet an allrounder isn't it?
so far, so good! When I first got the lens I was amazed at it's size and
weight. I took it out this morning with an "L" bracket and tripod & was very
happy with the results. I definitely will be using this for a while.....
