Some snapshots from the pond yesterday afternoon....going to add kingfishers to the difficulty list along with swallows. 600mm isn't long enough anymore.... 🤦🏻♂️ I also forgot the cool shooting profile I made for birds that weren't moving....4000 ss 😂
Two images of Schwerin Castle, the former residence of the dukes and grand dukes of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Nowadays it is used as the seat of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state parliament in Germany, with some other parts used as a palace museum. It became part of the UNESCO World Heritage in 2024. Both shots were taken with the Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN on my A7III.
Definitely a hard to predict autumn this year. A little bit of color around the Maryland State Monument at Antietam Battlefield, but not much down at Harpers Ferry.

The pace of color changes has been all over the place this year, at least in the places where I visited. When I went to Catoctin Mountain in Maryland on Oct 16, about 50% of the leaves had changed. When I went back just 4 or 5 days later, a lot of leaves were gone already. The northern part of Shenandoah NP is peaking right now, according to the park authority. I may go back on Thursday or Friday.

Yeah, a little north of State College PA was ahead of Sinnemahoning area, which didn't make sense to me. Down at Antietam Battlefield, it was like a mix of past peak and barely started. In Harpers Ferry, a lot of the colorful trees in town were past peak, some were bare, and the surrounding hills were mostly green.
Hope you can chase some color down. Not sure how much more I'll be able to get out and see.
