From this morning. Tried out the insect AF of the A7RV, it detected the dragonflies and butterflies alright but it failed to focus on the eyes of the insects about 70% of the time. I guess the insect AF is not the same as bird eye AF.

CV 21/3.5 (E vsn). Tasmanian winters are brutal, this was taken at around 3.00pm. It's a blessing and a curse, you get the ethereal skylight but the temp falls fast to below zero. The main tree is a Pencil Pine, endemic to Tas. Walking is tough on rocky trails, no chance of offtrack movement.

An unlikely pairing, but due to the design of the A7cR's trigger input door, I couldn't use it with my aquatech housing, nor could I use my 16-35pz as it was slightly too long for the port. So- my A1 & CV15 (focused to infinity obviously!) got the call for a Manta Ray night snorkel tour on the Big Island of Hawaii. Very cool experience and while the housing was challenging at times (and nerve-wracking due to the value of the camera/lens) I wouldn't have done it otherwise as it was truly a memorable experience that we wanted pictures from.

I wonder what kind of result my Sony A1 would produce if it had "Pre-Capture".
So I was shooting my A9.3 with a frame rate of 30 FPS and Pre-Capture ON.
The GIF displays a linear resolution of 1200 pixels on the long side.
So the resolution difference between the A1 and A9.3 won't matter as the images are only slightly cropped.
At 30 FPS the GIF should repeat in about 1 s to give the correct speed impression of the actual event captured.
Setting a delay of 0.03 in Photoshop after each frame seems to accomplish that.
Here goes.

To me that seems like it would be a very useful addition to the A1 feature set.
What is your take on this?

If the A1 had this feature I am not sure that I would have bought the A9.3.
But now that I have gained some experience at 120 FPS on the A9.3, getting the A9.3 was the right way to go.
A frame rate of 120 vs 30 FPS is really a different ball game, not even close.
A buffer of 192 images allows for these shooting durations before the A9.3 slows down to 6 FPS:

• 120 FPS - 1.6 s
• 60 FPS - 3.2 s
• 30 FPS - 6.4 s
• 15 FPS - 12.8 s

unless the buffer can also being emptied while written to.
