Ever since Photoshop 3.0 first introduced us to ' Layers' - I have enjoyed playing around with a method I like to call BLENCOMO
BLENCOMO - BLended COlour with MOnochrome image (This one is a simple blend of the colour image combined with the selenium toned monochrome version).
