I think the only other Zeiss prime from Sony (so AF) that is expected in the next year or so is the 85mm - the F1.8 is just a guess, although a fair one at this point. For the WA, they are going announce a UWA Sony/Zeiss F4 zoom in 2014: most likely a 16-35mm. I'm keeping an eye out for that lens since I think it might be a great native landscape solution. Any other primes I'm guessing are going to come directly from Zeiss but as MF lenses (they already announced that they will release 5? primes by end of 2014). Might be we'll see the faster Zeiss glass come out as MF, which may help save some size since they will not need to accommodate the AF motors. A cv nokton-sized 35/1.4 distagon anyone?
I'm very impressed by the 55mm and I've never had any desire for a Zeiss before. I'm still interested in the 24-70 but the 55 is clearly going to be my main lens during these dark winter months.
As an aside I saw on a different forum someone complaining about how "big" the lens was and they would need to buy the optional grip to use it. Shows what bizarre conclusions some can draw by seeing a product shot and never touching something in the real world. The lens is plenty small and light. Balances perfectly on the A7.
The lens works extremely well with the A7R, is very light, super sharp in the corners once stopped down to f5.6 and only needs Chromatic Aberration correction in Lightroom. If anyone has a lens profile in Lightroom for it please PM to remove the mild distortion.
I asked this on another forum without getting a response, so I'll try here. I have an A7 on it's way with a large assortment of legacy lenses to use. I have a Leitz Super Angulon R 21mm f3.4 lens and was wondering if anyone has tried this on the A7. I am wondering about clearance for the rear element and also if this type of symmetrical wide angle works decently on the digital format. Thanks for any help.
