Extremely cool image you got there.

Looks like we're really on parallel tracks. I was a few miles north taking abstracts of clouds at the same time. Mine didn't come out a tenth as dramatic as yours, but I'll post it anyway because of the amusing coincidence.

As for the FD 80-200mm f4L, here's an image from that lens on the A7R. It's a really good lens, but overall I'd have to give the nod to the EF 70-200mm f4L IS. More keepers, maybe because of the IS.

You guys are killing me with these sunset photos... I'm going to have to dedicate some time for shooting during the holidays.

Are you using the EF 70-200/4 with the metabones smart adaptor? If so, how does the AF compare to shooting it on a Canon body?

Images taken this evening just before sunset at Lock Ridge Park, Alburtis, PA with my A7r camera and my Leica R 50mm f2 Summicron lens. First 3 images of snow covered Swabia Creek with portions opened by the flowing water at f11. The fourth image is looking the other direction up Swabia Creek covered with snow at around f8 or f11. The last image was taken as the sun was setting in the Park.

Yes, I'm using it with the Metabones III. The AF is fairly slow, but very accurate. If the subject is WAAAAY out of focus, you may need to point it at something bigger/higher contrast that's in the ballpark of where the subject is and focus on that first. Then you can focus on the desired subject no problem.

I'd say it's faster and more accurate than MF for static subjects -- I like using it. I'm sure it would be frustrating and too slow for good results with kids, dogs etc.

Since we're posting seagulls Here's a picture I rather like, taken with the A7R and the Canon 70-200 f4L IS. It focused easily on the bird.

and a 100% crop

Sorry Bob, I cannot let a string of cat photos, however lovely they may be, go unchallenged. I answer with a dog caricature, take that!

Ok maybe it needs a heavier touch of NR after all, ISO6400. Nikkor 20/3.5 near MFD

@ebookman, nice beach shots! I wondered how the CZJ135 would fare. It looks really nice.

Great shots! The first one is amazing!

btw the CZJ 135mm performs really well on the A7. I dont use long lenses a lot, but the few times i do the Sonnar does the job nicely!
