First image post. Went for a stroll, put my A7R and FE 35mm on f/2.8 and around 1/125, and auto-ISO. I'm not sure if the correct etiquite is to upload to flickr or other places and link them here or just upload to FM.
The first image is from the old UN building that's now used as a Federal building. I did have a guard come out and aski me what I was doing, but hey, this is San Francisco. Everyone's carrying a camera so they were cool about it.
My FE 55/1.8 just arrived about an hour ago. First few shots, wide open of course and AF on centre only. The AF is fast, and responsive, and even wide open. It is great lens to be able to catch the flow of emotions. I love the rendering with this lens, wide open. It is will be an excellent portrait and street lens All my problems are now solved with the A7r!!
Cool clouds over Mt Tam! I was south of there tonight, and just caught an abstract of a tiny sliver of intense light just as the sun dropped behind the hills... a7 & Canon FD 80-200 f/4 L at 200mm & f/5.6:

Looks like we're really on parallel tracks. I was a few miles north taking abstracts of clouds at the same time. Mine didn't come out a tenth as dramatic as yours, but I'll post it anyway because of the amusing coincidence.
As for the FD 80-200mm f4L, here's an image from that lens on the A7R. It's a really good lens, but overall I'd have to give the nod to the EF 70-200mm f4L IS. More keepers, maybe because of the IS.
I am SO impressed by these FE55 images coming in. My plan has been to wait for the FE 24-70 to appear, and make an either/or decision when we see its images compared to the FE55. But . . . these initial FE55 images are telling me that an FE primes-only strategy (to get great IQ + AF) will likely be the most desirable Plan A for this camera, with zoom as Plan B. We need Sony to release their plan for the next Zeiss FE primes in the 21-24, 70-90 and 135 ranges!
All my problems are now solved with the A7r!!
