These bsang burners are ritually fed with ash and juniper fronds, producing incredibly dense smoke. This does not augur well for cardio health at 3500 metres. The burners get extremely hot and are themselves a serious fire hazard. They explode on a regular basis, scattering brickwork and fire in the immediate vicinity. #3 shows one in a terminal state, but still seeing plenty of use.
I was given the honor to photograph the celebration of a local music talent (Mary Jane Alm) on the occasion of her 50 years in the music business. She's received many awards and is in the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame. It was a joyful celebration and I glad I could participate. I shot the show in color and I'll post some of those later but I really like the B&W so here's a few.

Very nice, Ross! I didn't stay for the moonrise yesterday after the Antares rocket launch on Wallops Island, Virginia. The rocket blasted off 20 minutes before the moonirse.
