Two favourite Tibetan monasteries: the 12th century Drigung Til and Shalu, dating from the late 990s. Shalu was rebuilt with lavish Mongol funding in the 13th century, hence the Chinese style roofing.

Eurasian pygmy owl is mainly recognized by its small size. It is as big as a starling, measuring 15–19 centimeters, with a wingspan of 32–39 centimeters and weighing about 60 grams.
