The Sony A7s continues to impress.
One of the issues that I had with the A7R was that it was really not happy with many of my Canon L lenses. AF was slow and issues with chromatic aberration and showing up issues that were not at all obvious with the 5D2.
On the a7s the AF is much faster, and accurate. The colours are lovely and my favourite portrait lenses, the Canon 135 f2, and the 70-200 f4, both sing on this camera. I would have used them with much reluctance on the A7R, but now, no issues at all. This camera has paid for itself in the cost of new lenses. Here was a quick snap of a sunflower. I thought it worked out okay, and tells me the Sony FE 70-200/4 is capable of quite sharp results. This was handheld and I think wide open:

This thread continues to impress (and sell ). I took my Leica 16-18-21mm WATE out for its first trip . . . and I'm glad I made the investment!

Great images, Dave and I agree with your findings!
Love the images! Been on Kauai for a day and a half, and before I left I downloaded the sony app. Here are some completely unedited pics transferred from my A7 to my 5s and out here!!
Not sure how it'll work...

I really like this image Werner. (I'm a sucker for the Classic European doorways...)
It has tons of texture & microcontrast.
I bought & returned one of these lenses because when I tested it, it was less sharp than my Canon 24-105; but, I see so many images from it that have this difficult to describe 'pop'. I wonder if I should save up & try again...

Thanks for posting.

Thanks Evan,
that lens is def. better than its reputation. Sometimes we are over critical with lens quality etc.
The Haus shot is taken at 70 mm according to some testers the weakest spot of the lens. I have certainly better lenses but i am quite pleased with it not to speak of its convenience.
Regards
Werner
PS: I own the 24-105 L as well. I tested it with the 7R and i liked it better than on the 5DMKII (i never liked it to much on the Canon) But for a walk around lens the 24/105 is to big and AF is very slow - i prefer the 24/70

Werner,
So many confusing and conflicting messages on the internet regarding this lens. I expect there is more sample variance than expected. Your shots consistently gets my attention and your 70mm shot is what I would expect from a Zeiss 24-70. How do you rate your 24-70 on the wide end?

Hi, never heard of this forum before, but this thread has made me sign up.
I recently bought a Sony A7.
Below are a couple of test shots using a Pentax SMC 50mm F2 taken wide open (IIRC)
Not up to the standard of some of the shots I've seen over the past 447 page, but I'm working on it. Still getting used to the DOF after coming from an APS-C sensor.
