One more around the Central station, Amsterdam.

My Leica Elmarit 90/2.8 has a huge flare problem in artificial light. I am going to cover up all the metal parts on the back of the lens and see if that helps.

Thanks rjigoleez!

I love the city pictures you take, they really cath that feeling of the American city.
It is Cincinnati isn't it? I have been drooling around there for one day in 1992.
Walked over the bridge over the Ohio river to Kentucky and back.

Enjoy your new toy, like I do as well

No, I live in Minneapolis. Also a smaller city. I lived in Utrecht for six months a few years back and visited Amsterdam often. I feel like I know the city as well as Minneapolis.

Finally, a day above freezing. I took some quick snaps from atop a parking garage with the 35/2.8. My 55/1.8 arrives today. I hope it's as sharp as this lens.

The Sonnar T* FE 1.8/55 ZA is here! I quickly opened the box, slapped it on and fired a few shots in my office wide open with AF. Can't wait to play more but I was immediately impressed.

Ahw yes, could have seen that at the left side with your avatar! It looks like a real nice city but much further north, so that's why you're getting all that snow already.

Fantastic that Foshay buiding! Look forward to your new 55 shots in the city!

Bokeh looks rather nice for a lens that sharp.

'Anyone share the little buzz??'

In the words of Georgie Fame:

I got my answer, the only thing I can say
I say yeh yeh, and that's what I say
I say yeh yeh, and that's what I say
Yeh yeh!

May be an understatement, but it seems like generally the 35/2.8 has gone down very well, and the reception certain to accompany the 55mm/1.8 has me wondering when the first less than excellent FE prime from Zeiss will arrive. Of course Sony have done nothing special, I mean where is their ''''system''''. Can't take any photos without one, nothing to see here, folks.

Bob wins first-to-post images from their very own FE55/1.8, so he's buying the rest of us beer!

Michael - Isn't supposed to be the other way around? I already spent my money!!!

I left the office for short walk . . . nothing spectacular but a mix of wide open and stopped down.

Congrats, Bob. That first one of the building at f/1.8 is unreal.

I knew from the pre-release samples the lens was good but those look really really good. It has the across-the-frame sharpness reminiscent of the Otus, with bokeh rendering that looks a bit like the new Nikon Noct.

Bob, that lens is looking like a keeper but aren't you concerned about the micro-transition details noted between pixels 25,837,109 and 25,839,552? The burnt umber and sienna transitions look muddy.

I am kidding, of course.

PS on the beer: I spent my money on this lens many weeks ago. Haven't been able to afford beer since. Please send funds, or suds, to PO Box ...

Michael, I see what you mean but this is easily fixed in Lightroom with a burnt umber/sienna transition plugin!

Seriously, I already know I like this lens a lot. AF is spot on even at f/1.8. It's an easy lens to use too. We will have to see how it handles low light, night time and other more challenging compositions but for now . . . it's a 'Wow'!

I lived in Culemborg for a time in the 80s

Well, got my A7 and my first question was, how's the pop? Used the FD 35/2 SSC for some first shots:

DSC00114-2 by unoh7, on Flickr

I asked this guy to "look envious"

DSC00019 by unoh7, on Flickr
he may have heard: "murderous"

DSC00099-4 by unoh7, on Flickr

DSC00087-4 by unoh7, on Flickr

Seems pretty fine I think A7 edges are better with this lens than on the A7r, but that's unscientific at this stage.

Great look on #3 uhoh!

Bob, some very nice shots there. Some of them look very Zeissy to me. How do you like the lens, the feel of it? And do you micromanage with MF or how does AF work for you? Thanks!
