SKumar, what adapter are you using with the 90 AA? It doesn't seem to show any mechanical vignetting.

Hi Edward, the Novoflex one. Didn't know there were mechanical vignetting issues for the 90 AA.

A7R + Sony 10-18mm @ 15mm (no APS-C crop, only about 5% cropped from edges in post), 30-second ISO 1600 exposure. Sadly the full-moon was obscured with clouds. Still a work in progress on the PP...

One to illustrate handholding image quality - 21mm lens at 1/50 second shutter speed. Full image, then 100% centre crop. I did 4-5 shots of this artistic scene and got the same result IQ wise. Conclusion: 1/50s works acceptably for me on this 36Mp camera. A7r / Contax 21/2.8

Hi Joshua,

that was wide open. This lens has the best bokeh of all my lenses under certain conditions, however I have noticed slight nervousness in the boken at mid distances as per the example.

Here is another example with same settinsg and similar distances however the nervousness is not too bad.

That's true . I thought about the possibility of the increased distance from flange to sensor due to the adapter would play a trick on us .

nice detail, beautiful color.
A7R is really a pix pper's dream. Looking the lens test images of small leaves 100 meter away during my recent test make my heart beat up.

Here's some mechanical vignetting tests with the Metabones adapter III. Bit of a mixed bag really.

Thanks SKumar. Indeed it seems there are some slight vignetting issues with any RF lenses longer than 50mm, though I don't have specific information about the 90 AA in particular.

Absolutely... it's great shooting into the sun. Not that we've had much since mine arrived.

I assume you are mounting your polarizer on the metal threads on the lens itself, not on the hood? Does the hood still fit on? Which polarizer did you elect to use... wondering if depth of the filter ring on some might cause fit issues.

I mounted it direct on the lens. My filters are mostly 52mm ones and i have various step up rings. I used a (chinese) 49to52mm ring here. The hood wont fit afterwards sadly. If you wand to use the hood you have to use the 40,5mm filter threat on the hood, but i have no filters that size.

I used a HOYA Polarizer. It isn't anything special but it does the job. Beside the polarising effect, my main reason for using a filter was to protect the front element from damage while skiing. I have been known to hit a tree or two...

I'm very happy to report that my Novoflex M/E adapter does not vignette with ZM 85/2 Sonnar while the Voigtlander adapter cuts the corners of the frame very slightly. I had bought the Novoflex but never tried it since I was generally happy with the Voigtlander. Both adapters have no issues with my other lenses, ZM 25, 35 and 50.

Thanks MCO and Michael. I'll try to keep it under control and only post when I have something decent to show. Might try my Canon 10-22mm APS-C lens today and see what that looks like in crop and not-crop modes. Happy holidays.

Thanks for sharing this info.

My understanding is that Novoflex and Metabones have said their adapters are fine (though I haven't seen where they said it) -- and Voigtlander (the 'normal' one) and Rayqual had said there was a problem with theirs.

I think that is quite astonishing too.

The right lens on this camera can do some amazing things. I' m a little excited about the 1st camera in some years. Anyone share the little buzz??
