At the top of the Trexler Nature Preserve, Schnecksville, PA.
Brown violet-eared hummingbird in-flight… This bird, as small as it is is quite aggressive in defending its claimed territory. It spreads its violet “ears” or feathers similar to the fins/shield of Dilophosaurus in the Jurassic Park movie.
Some shots from yesterday in Pennsylvania. There are over 100,000 migratory snow geese congregating there now before they move north. When they blast off it's like a tornado, very noisy as well. Pictures don't do the justice. There are a couple hundred swans there too.
