Drove 8 hours round trip to Benezette, Pennsylvania to photograph elks this morning, only to see a bull and his cows for about 20 minutes in an overcast morning before they went back into the woods. Oh well, maybe next year.
This is my third time photographing this event, but the first with the A7R4. This summer I upgraded from the A7ii. My keeper rate went up significantly. In fact I felt so much more confident that it was capturing what I intended that I didn't shoot as many photos as I did before. Down from about 2200 to 1600.
This is an event that I shoot for free in support of the club.
Now, I'm coming to terms with uploading so many large files. I initially wanted to give everyone full res pics but the uploads to smugmug are taking forever. I think that in the future I'll offer 4k res for free and full res if they are looking for prints. Maybe charge a little for the bother.
I love doing it but it's a ton of effort. I think I hiked 6-8 miles over rough terrain yesterday and spent the whole day today on the computer.
Looking at what I believe may be an invasive Red Honeysuckle with Red Berries.
