Looking at 2 trees, the larger, closer and more prominent one is alive and the one behind is dead. In the image foreground and to the left you see the top of the Preserve and to the right of and just beyond the trees you look across the Lehigh County Zoo and across the Preserve into the distance.

At the top of the Trexler Nature Preserve, Schnecksville, PA.
Thank you Birdie. Beautiful shot of the hummer. How do you know that WAS your hummer? My resident hummers have gone south but I am still seeing one or two once in a while feeding on my feeders. I think these are the migrating hummers making a stop to refuel on their way south. The last time I photograph hummers was about 10 days ago.
There are 2 that have been hanging around for the past several months. One female and one juvenile male. I can tell by their markings and behavior as to where they always land and hang out. I spend far too much time watching them .
Every now and then another one will fly through , and stay a day or two then leave. With all the tree damage ,downed limbs and trees, I am amazed that they weathered the hurricane.
It is not unusual for some females and juvenile males to be here until the end of Oct. sometimes into late Nov. The adult male left sometime in early August. For the past several years I have been getting Rufous and Allens show up in late Nov. and Dec and they will stay until around March. I hope they come back this year
