My wife bought a new Nativity Set at Costco yesterday. Yes, Christmas is on sale in September. I thought it would be fun to see how the 50GM performed in darkness wide open with just the light of the candles.
The CY 35-70 was always a far outlier in the distribution of mid-zooms. Renowned for its wonderful colour (rich and deep yet balanced), it functions more like a short range prime than any modern mid-zoom. It's now of interest largely as a part of lens history, but I'll post a few over the next few days, as it excels in tough light conditions where so many others struggle.

I drove the Peak to Peak Highway from Estes Park down to I-70 this morning. I had to scramble to get into position when I saw the clouds. I wasn't planning to shoot sunrise but I couldn't resist. The drive was beautiful with some aspens almost at peak but many have yet to turn.
Unless CV produce an extraordinary lens at 28mm, I'm very happy to stick with this one. It's been with me since the a900 days - the tiny CY 28/2.8. (still want a 90-100mm from them though)
