An alternative you might consider, Manuel, is to try one of the two-element Nikon 3T or 4T close up lenses, which being 52 mm, will fit this lens. My experience with them is that they are surprisingly high-class optics, and can provide a very cheap, convenient and light-weight route to good macro. They generally work better with longer focal length lenses so your 100 should suit them very well. They can induce some curvature, but for field use this is generally not problematic
Here's an example taken with one on my OM-D using a 45 mm lens.
Hello John,
thanks for your suggestion... after your message I've checked immediately on the Bay but they seem rather expensive: around 80 euro each

Fantastic macro Ronny... as usual... especially for the combination and contrast of colors. Do you think I could have some chance to get macro shot with my new Canon FDn 100mm NOT macro and some extension tubes? Thanks in advance.
Manuel
Thank you
Think you can get very good results with it though
Have not test much but here is a picture from Nikkor 180mm f2.8 Ai-s
and tube 36mm (180mm ai-s have poor focusing distance 1.8m without tube .. with 36mm approx 1m)
think it gets pretty good results here too
probably I think that the Nikkor 180mm Ai-s works a little better on the D700 with the tube than on the A7
but must test more
buy some cheap tubes and test .. think you get good results

Great macros! Is there any vignetting with the adapter plus the extension tubes?

Cheers,

Thanks..hardly anything at all with one tube ... get some more when I use 2 tube ( 36mm and 20mm ) and 100MP with novoflex adapter
But you can certainly get some if you use one tube longer than 36mm also ?

Hello Werner,
have you find a solution to use A7R with the 300mm on a tripod with low shutter speed (1s to 1/100 s)?
Regards - Manuel
Salve Manuel,
to answer your question very clear: No! But...
well i used the old Nikkor 300/4 quite a lot with the A7. Yes i had some shutter shock on tripod (or any other kind of small movements wind, people passing etc) lens on tripod.
Best thing is to avoid shutters between 1/25 and 1/160 faster and slower works almost every time. You can shot handheld with quite good success if you go up to 1/1600 S.
The shutters you mention are the most critical for sure and it is then more or less hit and miss.
For me Shutter shock is not really surprising nor is a big problem...

Thanks Werner... pity "mamma Sony" doesn't consider a firmware upgrade to fix this problem... seems to me very easy to solve but I'm not a Sony engineer
Buona serata!

This is one heck of a fast moving thread, for sure. The number of great images is just staggering. Kudos to everyone that posted his/her images. It just shows that a lot of folks embraced the first FF mirror less camera and they either switched or added this new format to their existing DSLR, including yours truly. It seems that the camera can really let a lot of lenses of various manufacturers shine.
A shot from yesterday; A7r and the lens used is Nikkor 28mm f/1.8G AF-S. In my book this is one of the best 28mm out there, if not the best, after trying out quite a few of reputable and highly regarded 28mm lenses, including the Leica 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit ROM (2nd version), Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 AI-S. And it is faster, too than those two. The Leica Summicron 28mm ASPH is an awesome lens on the Leica M but less so on the Sony FF A7/A7r. Just my opinion.

Congrats Wilhelm .. is it a MM version ?
Thanks, yes it is (I think all 35-70 are MMJ actually). Interestingly it does makro too, so besides Greggs inspiring 35-70 BW images in this thread I was also thinking about your breathtaking makrostuff :-)
